How do you switch recipes?

When there are 2 or more recipes for an item, how do you switch between them?

Is there a key or is it dependent on the items delivered?

You can just choose the recipe you want to use when you plant the factory. You just need to have the mats for it. Some short cut recipes won't be available until you are able to warp.

There is a small X at the selected recipe, but it only shows once you hover mouse over it. You can switch recipe without needing to remove and place the building again.

Some items have 2 or more different recipes, how do you select the alternate recipe?

Look at the recipes in the build menu; if you can't figure out how to make the other recipe, it's probably made in a different building.

As an example, Energetic Graphite is made from Coal in a Smelter, but can be made from Refined Oil and Hydrogen in an Oil Refinery.

Once you have placed the building there are 2 recipes for making the item, how do you select the 2nd recipe or is it the program the selects the recipe based on the components added?

Click on the second recipe in the recipe selection screen, where you chose the first recipe. If you already have a recipe functioning, click on the little X mark to the upper right of the recipe selected and it will blank out the recipe selection place. Then choose the other recipe. As others before me have posted, by the way. And no, the program does not choose based on the feeds.

As I stated earlier, if you are finding yourself unable to find the recipe you want to use, then you are probably using the wrong building. Look in your build menu (Press F) at the recipe you want to use, and make sure you're trying to make it in the correct building.

The coal -> energetic graphite recipe is only available in the smelter, and the refined oil + hydrogen -> energetic graphite recipe is only available in the refinery.

Sadly the graphite is the only recipe in which you have the alternate recipe in the same symbol. And there it states semlter.

All other alternative recipies have an other symbol in the craft menu (and are all made in the same machine as the original reciepe).

So your way to finde the refinery as source of graphite is to build one and see it there :(

The recipe I am requesting help for is the Organic Crystal. It has 2 recipes associated. One with Oil and one with Wood. It assumes Oil but I want to use Wood. That is what I am trying to get too.

I am well versed in most of the buildings by now and am not a complete novice So no need ti repeat yr suggestions as this is not what I need help with.

Please help as I have tried and tried to find the answer myself but alas to no avail. lol

There might have been a research for the alternative recipe, don't remember now. They are both made in Chemical Facility.

That's the recipe, yes.

If you look in Chemical Plant and choose the Organic Crystal you will see 2 recipes. There is no mention of how to switch between recipes, that is my problem.

Solution not found yet lol I will keep searching and post back if I find the answer.
