Rebuild, restart or just move on...
My home planet is a disgrace, conveyors everywhere, crossing each other, if I had OCD i would be rocking in the corner.

Problem is, you cant spread it out so nice as it grows organically, what do other users do, and as I have just flown off to another planet to get titanium, is it best just to find a similar planet and start again or just restart the game and plan better?

Honestly, I don't really care how much of a mess my conveyors get as long as I send all of my important production to a centralized location for storage. The actual production lines zig zag everywhere, I've turned the air above my storage area into some kind of mid air conveyor spaghetti in order to feed all the boxes, it honestly just makes it easier to locate when I'm flying around.

Play enough of these games (DSP, Factorio and Satisfactory) and you stop caring about spaghetti conveyor belts.

You'll want to have bigger production later on either on a separate part of the planet or another planet, and if you want to, clean up some of the older builds

I also build a complete spagetti mess at first. It works well (and is acually more fun) but after a while it gets out of hand, as you have noticed.
A great solution is to build a "main bus" as others have suggested. So, that is what i did.

Defenetly build it on the same planet you are already on, you need a starting base to get going in this new project.
Just let your axisting base keep on going, And build a new one along the equator.
At first, build new machines, and later on you can relocate existing machnes if you like.
A main bus is easy to build, expand and maintain. I'll post some screenshots later.
If i had to do it again, i would change some things (like leaving more space for expansion later on).

So, don't feel bad, it's a natural part of learning and progressing in the game. Base will be better and better!

Examples of main bus.
oh lord main buss in this game is a mess XD in factorio its perfect and compact but in dyson i think its better to do section of production

I did decentralized production first but then you have long belts. BUT at some point you get towers. And that means you dont need belts anymore really. at least not a main bus.
You can always migrate to a new planet, just make sure you adjust your miners on your starter planet so they leech everything empty and export the most important stuff and you'll never have to see the mess again you made lol

You don't build a giant ball of tier 1 belt spaghetti and research the actual belts and sorters as fast as possible because now it takes forever to delete and will fill your inventory multiple times.

That's also why you don't build what looks like unlimited boxes everywhere.
Have fun dismantling those. And remember; buffers are bad.

It's a learning experience, don't restart you will lose your research levels. Find a new spot and build new with the latest tech then salvage the old areas or segment them as resource supply stations for the logistics station. you will never be satisfied with you current setup, that's why the game is so addicting. This game is a nightmare for people as myself with OCD, but it's also the greatest thing at the same time... gotta luv it!

If you are far enough you can warp to another system and repeat.

I've had to restart once due to interstellar logistics stranding my entire supply fleet between star systems: I don't recomend it. However, starting over with all the learning experience I gained, allowed me to figure out a super clean super efficient factory system; using almost all logistics towers. It's bit of a slog holding back on the initial spaghetti setup, but once you've got towers it makes life so much cleaner and nicer

no penalty to delete. removed things go into your inventory. large storage holds as much as you do. drop one. double click with both open, to move all your inventory at once. take care not to delete full storage, no space means destruction. tweak stuff that needs it. glhf

@OP if i were in your shoes here is what i would do:

1) look at existing planet and see if it can be salvaged/reworked. Disassemble buildings, build new storage area, transfer old storage items to it, disassemble old storage etc. Maybe turn off power generation so that fuel isnt being wasted if its gonna take a long time to reorganize.

2) Make sure your old game is saved before you start a new game. Make sure that you dont accidentally overwrite it. While playing on your new game you may decide that you would rather just play your old game and salvage/rework it.

IMO dont think of a sloppy base as a failed game or start a new game because of it. Think of it as just another challenge that you have to overcome. Its not like there is any pressure for you to progress at a certain pace and there arent critters that will come attack you while you rework your base.

Yeah good stuff, I am trying again, once you get the hang of it restart is pretty fast to get the tech back, but man i start off and trip overmyself in minutes! Im going to try modular, just built the Blue Line. Moved away and starting on the Red Line.
You know I didnt realise and ended up with ♥♥♥♥ loads of oil, im going to burn it now.

I've just condemned my starter planet. Set up planetary logistics stations at all my production lines all remaining resource nodes and then linked them all to interstellar logistic stations and left. I set up a couple rows of solar panels around the equator. You would be supprised how much power a couple hundred solar panels produce. I haven't returned since. I'm not on an ice planet that is 97% flat. So easy to make production lines. It's one of the reasons I think this is easily the best game of the genre. My iron production line goes half way around the equator.

Later on you can get by with planetary storage stuff to cut down on the conveyer belts, if you really want to. But some people just really love to mess around with conveyer belts, haha.
