Do resources eventually run out?
By far the part I most dislike about Factorio is that your miners eventually deplete the resources they are set on top of, because having to re-do older parts of my factory just feels tedious and unfun. Does DSP also do this?

yes but when you start a game you can chose the resourse multiplier ie 2x 3x 4x etc or infinite. Oil seems to be infinte by default

In this game you only need a max of 4 or so miners on a vein, so moving them when the vein runs out isn't a big deal like it is in factorio. Also, as the game goes on you kind of want the land for production buildings, so it's no bad thing moving the mining to other planets once veins start running out.

imo Letting them run out is sort of the key to the fun of the game. Atm im mining from multiple planets/galaxies and watching the trade ships fly in and out on the galaxy view is cool af. Wait until youve got a ton of trade routes going.

But play your way! Especially your first run. spaghetti the conveyor belts :D

Yes, resources will deplete, what I have done so far Is when they do I'll belt in more from a nearby location. If there is no nearby place, I use bots to fly it back to my base.

Also, there is infinite ore mods in factorio, if you want unlimited resources, you can always check one of those out.

Yeah, I use one every time I play Factorio haha

Even if you set it to infinite, it is still possible to run out of resources on a node because they just set it to 1 billion each node... if you left the game running for months non stop.

Having played to the "endgame" of all research and cubes and all that, I personally feel that a multiplier around ~2x is the sweet spot at the moment. It isn't cheat mode because you can/will still run out of stuff; but you have a bit longer to get interplanet/system trade going before your first nodes start to dry up. This is also helpful as with my first full playthrough, my starting system had less than 2 million total silicon between all planets, and it was a rough time getting warp drive production cranking to hop to another system to get more.

Isn't there a repeatable tech that makes you drain less and less resources from a mining operation? Can you get it to 100% less resources drained? :D

No, it helps but not 100%. And by the time you get to the higher levels of that research anyway, you would have already expired several nodes worth of stuff.

My only reply is that Factorio has blueprints so if you're not just making a mining blueprint to cover something instantly then you're missing out. Usually by the time you deplete a deposit on regular settings you'll have building robots to plop down the blueprint buildings for you.
