Potential Gog release?
Hello,
I want to ask, if a later GOG release has come into consideration or is "off da table"?

With kind regards

No offence but why do some people ask about gog release on steam forums? Is the game not good enough for you on steam or smth?

From my understanding and somebody correct me if i'm wrong:

Purchase on steam: You buy the right to play the game through steam

Purchase on GoG: You actually buy the game. You can copy it between your computers, no DRM. And i think you can play the game without using GoG once it's installed.

I think there's a misconception when people buy on GOG - you NEVER actually buy the game, you only buy RIGHTS to play the game, you are NOT allowed to distribute the game whatsoever, whether its steam or gog, so no, you DONT actually buy any rights to the game whatsoever

You can easily copy the game between your computers on steam as well wtf are you talking about? You think steam is bound to your specific hardware or smth? Its not, you can use your steam accounts on multiple laptops/PCs, there are no restrictions

You CAN play steam-drm games on steam without internet connection, just go offline on steam, you can even get access to certain denuvo games while being offline if there's only a weekly/monthly denuvo check

No one said anything about distributing the game, obviously it's for personal use.
And good luck playing your denuvo games once the authentification servers are shut down.
so did you only write your first comment for a chance to rant?
Good job.

It's time to step down from the soapbox my dude. No one said anything about this. OP is literally just asking for a GOG copy that will run without any kind of "Login" DRM scheme. Yes that means the game will run on any PC (of their - legally) and could theoretically be distributed further. But irrelevant.

I literally corrected you and you just lash out to me in response? Good job at writing a level-headed reply

Denuvo games are not on GOG, as a matter of fact, there aren't that many games on GOG in the first place so good luck trying to play 80-90% of games out there LUL

It's time to buy some glasses my dude. I was responding to a person who clearly doesn't understand what owning drm-free games actually means and I corrected him, I wasn't responding to OP in there. Not every game dev is gonna distribute their games on GOG, that platform lacks a lot of games and your sense of "distribution" is flawed as you can "distribute" games between PCs on steam just as well depending on other layers of DRM

Steam is not bound to specific hardware my dude. Learn that by heart please. Nobody is gonna kick you out of a game that you downloaded and installed between multiple PCs, the game is bound to your account, which is bound to your email and potentially phone number, among other security layers

You can't burn GOG games on disks and tell everyone about it because that process is in itself illegal as you don't own any rights to distribution of the game

No you went on a long rant about something no one even discussed, because you misread the intent of something (intentionally) to go on full defense.

No one said they were - They are however tied to an account - Which you most definitely will find yourself "kicked out from" if you attempt to boot it up on the other PCs while logged in.

Literally no one said this was the case! This is the entire point here. Stop misreading things and going on hilariously insane rants.

A common reason I have seen "in favor of" GOG over Steam is that if Steam ever were to shut down you'd lose your library.

However that's not true.

If Steam were to ever shutdown, your library would be unlocked. It might be true that you could never download the games again, but the ones you had downloaded would be playable.

So your argument is launching the game on multiple computers at the same time on GOG is somehow helpful? Ok in that extremely rare instance where you have 2 people playing the same game at the same time on multiple computers, then yeah, I guess GOG version might be better for you. Then again, that is, if you do have that game on GOG which you will likely not have, and GOG imposes terrible regional prices too. Factorio on steam for me, is 4 times cheaper without any discounts than it is on GOG, it makes no sense

dude that is such a stretch.... steam were to ever shutdown... really? Might as well debate whether we keep out libraries if we get hit by an asteroid that would wipe all the life from Earth

Also, if GOG were to go down, you would be able to only play those games on your PC, not the ones you purchased in your library so... technically speaking it's the same case as with steam, no?

It *IS* a stretch, for sure. But it's not my stretch. I don't believe that Steam will ever shutdown.

Itll be with us for the foreseeable future, like Walmart, Amazon, and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.

Why are you so hostile? Spill your cereal?

point is, people do things to play steam games they dont own already, in the event of a steam shutdown, it means the platform and security files will no longer be updated. as a result, cracking steam security and creating a false launcher to play the games you own, wouldn't take pirates long. but this scenario is so far into the future you'd be worrying about your great grandkids not being able to play the classics like elder scrolls X the alternate time line Cyrodil.
