Splitter is also the merger, it depends if you lead stuff in or out. Also you can specify the output with filters. Try using tab when selecting the splitter.

Also, when placing a splitter, try using tab, there are 3 varieties of splitters.

splitter = merger. also you can directly merge belts.

Just run the belt into another perpendicular line of belt. A splitter will also work to merge two belts.

if you run multiple lines into a splitter it will join the output.

This. If you route 3 in - 1 out, it becomes a merger, as long as youre using a t3 output to handle the high amount of resources

I have a major issue with the Splitter, and I feel like it's a bug.

Can it only filter with the intend of outputting one direction, or can you make it output all three directions while one hole is it's input? For some reason I can only select ONE item to filter out, I can't add any other filtered options as hey get replaced by the current item tto be filtered out. Is this a bug, or is this a obvious thing it's meant to do?

if you dont set a filter it acts as a standard splitter. currently, at least to my knowledge, you can only set a filter for one item-type on one exit. if you set it to filter but do not set an item type it will be an ordinary spliter with a priority on that port.

Trying to understand this whole splitter. I thought you could put one belt into one port to make it a input. And then make the other free a output, to filter out specific items on the main belt.

So I take it I completely misunderstood on what the Splitter does? Again though, I can't really select multiple items, in the sense that I can't have iron output on one, and copper on the other.

if your belt contains copper and iron, just set one to either copper or iron and the other will output the remains. if its more than two per belt, youll need more splitters ...

... but i would advise against mixing belts, if one side backs up it will halt completely. you can do that in factorio where you can controll stuff with the circuit network, but even there its only something you do if you really want it, sperate belts are the more sane option.

Thing is it wouldn't let me choose anyway. I can only filter one path, so. Even if I had multiple contents, only one item will be filtered, as for some reason I cannot select the other two outputs to filer something.

yes, you can not (or can only set one). assume your belt has copper & iron. now you set the left exit to copper, it will output copper there and iron on the other.

play around with it. make a few storage crates and create a test enviroment.

Yeah, like I said. Doesn't really give me the option to do that. If I have one belt that has both Iron and Copper, the splitter will only filter one item, in one direction.

Did you attach belts to all of the outputs already? (Its its anything like the logistic tower you need a belt going out from a port to be able to set a filter on it).

When I placed it down for the first time. I was able to filter all three exits. Now when I put it down again I can only choose ONE exit to filter.
At the moment none of the belts are connected to my warehouses, which have my resources in them.

I think you are confusing something, a spliter can "split out" just one specific resource, the rest will move on, its not a bug, in my game its the same thing.
I use it to filter hydrogen from the refinery output
