Research Matrix Labs do not consume Cubes
I have tried three times in three different planets starting from sctratch, but I still have the same problem. I have two lines to produce blue and red cubes and a research expected to consume both of them There is plenty of power and components, the cubes are produced, but the research matrix do not consume them. In order to evolve I have to get the 10 cubes stacked in each matrix and put them in the inventory. This is slow and time consuming and I'm sure there is a better way. I've seen videos on YouTube where the research matrix consume the cubes automatically so that the research progress very fast. Is it a bug (already reported to devs) or it is something I'm doing wrong? I have a good i7 win10 pc with 32 GB and RTX 2016. Please help - thanks

You're not setting the mode of a matrix lab to consumption.

Labs have two settings: production (you select which matrix you produce) and consumption (they consume any matrixes incoming by belts).

You have set the third Labtower to research or dont you.
They works in two modes. One is producing the matricies and the other is researching.
And be sure to feed both types of cubes into the third tower.

When you put down a Matrix Lab from the inventory and click on it there's 2 modes you can choose: production of a one type of a cube on the left side and consumption of the cubes on the right (called 'research', I think?). Try placing a new lab and see for yourself, I had the similar issue because I "copied" all new labs before placing them, thus copying the mode of operation with it =_=

Thanks for your help guys, but the "consume" matrix labs ARE set to consume (research mode) not to produce mode. Clicking on the "consume" ones I get the "Lack of matrix" message (wich is wrong because there are plenty of them on the conveyor belt), but if I Reset and choose again the right option (research mode) again, the ten matrix stacked inside are lost, the matrix lab starts to get another 10 cubes then stops again.

Do you have something selected to research from the tech tree? The cubes are not consumed unless you are actively researching something. I had a few instances where I was wondering why nothing was researching and it was because I forgot to queue it up.

Maybe a picture?

Yes, I have screenshots and I'm now trying to find the way to upload them here. :-)

Does a lab need one of each color to start working on it's research?

Yes, that setup can't work - think of it like trying to produce magnetic coils by putting the magnets into one assembler and the copper into another.

Yes.

When changing recipes, any stored ingredients or products go to your inventory; they aren't lost (unless your inventory is full).

Yeah can confirm, just tested it myself.

@gim190

You need to be putting both a blue and a red research into each lab for that lab to be able to do any research. It needs both matrixes to work on the research.

If you research a tech that needs blue, red and yellow matrices, only research labs that receive all three of those simultaneously will actually work.

You can’t have separate labs that only get one kind each.

As stated, you cannot use seperate labs for research. Both Blue & Red (and the future color) cubes ALL have to be in the same Lab.

Ah! OK, I'll Try that. So there are different Produce mode Matrix Labs, but only one common research mode? I'll let you know if it works. Thanks for the moment.
