Haha fair enough.
Never played it personally, but this review seems to suggest that despite the cartoony appearances, it's actually a very deep & complex game.

It's an extraordinary game. Brilliant in every way.
Fortunately for our sanity, the addition wears off after 1-2 play throughs. I barely play it at all now but I have a serious addiction/obsession with it for at least a week.
So like crack - right on.
And where TF has all my coffee gone??
My top 4 games after the legendary minecraft (only game to update so many times and not try and milk players for more money, has to be #1 in my book) are this, ONI, Rimworld and Factorio (in no specific order). Never played satisfactory. I also enjoyed factory town while it lasted and for the 3d graphics, but it doesn't compare to DSP.
I love Rimworld, especially the amount of mods, and the gameplay is challenging. Factorio is good, never modded it, completed twice and never touched it again, second time was a deathworld. All of the games I mentioned are way too many hours involved and I need to get a life :)
joke aside, yep it definately has the potential to be a pretty consuming game. for me its nowhere near to other games though ... YET!
my personal gaming crack would be the civilization series - but only if you count 1-6, in total its easily the game i sunk most hours into (especially 3 and 4) - closely followed by ttdx/opentd, factorio, rimworld, europa universalis and stellaris (in about this order).
then i would recommend to stay away from factorio - unless its not the factory build aspect that scratches the itch or 2d gfx are a severe turnoff for you, in which case you are in no danger anyways.
its this game just supercharged when it comes to addictive timesink, because you can do so much more in terms of streamlining your factory - and thats even without mods, which can turn the game into complexity hell (in a nice way). but it also has a roughly 7 year headstart, could well be i change my assessment in a couple of years and DSP kicks factorio off the factory-game throne (obviously its my subjective opinion, yours might differ, totally valid).
and damn am i excited to see what kind of enemy we get here and if we will be able to build a fleet of cruisers and battleships to fight them. (i guess we wont though)
