Main benefit is that when removing items (scuh as conveyor belts), these are not lost if inventory is full.
Right now the refunded materials get destroyed if there is no space in your inventory.
To delete an item. Pick it up, so its on the cursor then press Shift+Del
"Added a function that now you can press and hold [SHIFT]+[DELETE] to delete the holding items directly."
I'm sure you can already press delete and whatever you're holding gets deleted. What does holding down shift do now?
They have changed it in the last patch.
Now if you press [Del] like we use to, it will drop the item on the ground, rather than permanently remove it from game. So [Shift] allows the [Del] to do what it use to in the first place!
The changes where made to stop accidental deletion of items! Like the new "Are you sure" pop up for towers, storage and fluid containers. Gawd knows how many times I deleted one of those by mistake, and lost everything.
