Nope :D I am currently 26 AU away and climbing. I am not sort of sideways though compared to my initial burst out at 1000m/s.

fly to the closets gas giant, and collect fuel from it.
Use the mouse and "W" key to turn, uses no power, as the other keys do. Point the mouse where you want to go, press and hold "W" and icarus will turn without using power.

That does not seem to be true. That does take power for me.

All ship actions cost energy. Fill up your fuel tank before leaving a planet. Graphite fuel is incredibly easy to set up and every starter world has some coal for it.

Getting lost in the void is pretty lousy, and takes forever to recover. The best option is to load your previous autosave.

As Bob said you should reload the autosave if possible but it's clearly too late for that now lol... otherwise you could try landing on a gas giant, you can get fuel from them now. you also have the slow regen but idk how long that takes as I've never used it and I don't think it was a thing when I last ran out of fuel >.>

Or you could just use the oppurtunity to rebase to another solar system if you don't mind using up a couple hours worth of electricity. Kind of reminds me of Earth and Beyond where it tooks hours to fly from one end of the galaxy to the other. And even traversing a single solar system could take 20-30 minutes if you only had starter engine and powerplant.
