The game crashes hard on Steam Deck

It happened to me twice in the half hour that I played. Once after I skipped the tutorial, another time right at the starting screen. One time it froze, the other time the screen went black.
I was able to access the steam menu, although I couldn't see it, as it was "behind" the frozen/crashed game screen. I could just hear the sounds of it. I think I managed to move to the "quit game" button, but then the Deck would not react at all any more. I had to restart it cold.
Has anyone else witnessed anything similar?
I uninstalled it for now. Not gonna destroy my Deck because of this.

I know multiple friends that play it on the Deck without issue. The "Exit to Desktop" button also freezes SF6 on Desktop like 50% of the time for me.

not saying this fixes your problems but it's not something inherent to the game

That's a good hint. There might be another way of closing the game when it freezes.

Odd, I play quite a bit on Deck and haven't had this issue specifically but I remember the game hanging a lot when loading certain modes back then, but still could quit the game.

I use GE-Proton8-16 now, and the only issue I notice is that when I load one of the classic games in the battle hub, or spectate somebody playing a classic game, the game freezes for a minute or so and then just kicks me to the main menu for "being inactive for too long".

Performance is dogwater in World Tour though, might try upgrading proton again and see how it does since 8-16 is pretty old by this point.
