how do you guys decide on which character to devote yourself too? im having a hard time finding who i like

well first off look up the top tiers and cross them off the list. After that cross dlc characters off the list so youre not doing pay to win. Easier selection that way

I just chose Chun-Li’s style in WT when I got to her and never looked back. Been maining her since. Only now I’m trying other characters in WT and doing character guides to explore and know them better. I’ve discovered I also like playing as Bison.

I almost never consider play style or game plan when picking a main (the exception being I reject negative edge characters because that mechanic is awful on gamepad). I mostly pick characters that speak to me for some reason, whatever it may be.

Some example selections I've made in the past:
- Bang Shishigami (Blazblue): Because he has his own theme song and is a dork.
- Dizzy (Guilty Gear): Because I thought her "trying not to fight" gimmick is cute.
- Juri (SF6): I like villain women.
- Vira (GBFV): I like villain? women.
- Ralf (KoF): I like the 80s and the explosions it comes with.

maybe your right this game isnt for me, i dont vibe with any of the characters might just try tekken

I struggle to find a main in pretty much every game I play, so I've kinda devoted myself to the jack of all trades master of none style.

While I consider Chun my "main," I haven't actually played her in months.

I'm the opposite - I really like SF6's roster and really enjoy diving in to a lot of different characters and usually play them for a month or so. Even the ones I don't really jive with.

Haven't you played her at least a bit in Master Rank to see where you would fall?

I enjoy getting new characters to Master but I also try to keep my Master characters active in Ranked, playing at least a little bit each of them from time to time.

Start with who you think looks the coolest. Figure out their kit and what they can do, see if it vibes with you. Rinse and repeat until you find the one where you get the best of both worlds. Top tier, low tier, doesn't matter - as long as you're having fun.

ah missed the post where you said you weren't really vibing with anyone. last resort option could be using rental tickets to try out the DLC characters.
