From DLC I like Akuma and Aki, don't really care for anyone else they've released, but this list will probably grow to include Terry and Mai.
So I'm having more fun playing different characters in SF6 in general, here is basically what I played in other SF games.
SFV: was R.Mika and Chun Li
SF4: was Akuma , Chun Li and Makoto
SF III: Chun Li and Makoto
SF Alpha: Akuma, Sakura, Sodom, and Chun Li
SF II: Sagat, Chun Li
Fortunately I found a new character that vibed with me in Lily, and enjoyed this iteration of Ryu and Akuma, so 3 characters for me to really enjoy the game in the main modes, aside from using Random select with friends.
The Bison ressurrection so soon in the story was a disappointment for me, I wish they brought another character instead.
Things will get more interesting and fun filled now with Terry, Mai and Elena.
I just checked the data for June and Blanka Honda and Dhalsim are bottom 3 in pick rate. Im not sure how a professional video gamer playing it means its a good inclusion.
He is generally regarded as one of the most exciting characters to watch in tournaments. And he has all the tools for the drive rush meta.
My guess is that the reason his pick rate has fallen is because the combination of execution difficulty (charge) and no longer top tier means you have to work harder to get a result. And when he got nerfed and the top pros switched, everyone else just followed.
His low pick rate is a combination of execution difficulty and relative power. Had they not nerfed him, people would have kept playing him.
Honda and Dhalsim were never good at top level. They nerfed Honda's scrub busting ability a little bit and made him a better character overall, but he is still low tier.
Having the World Warriors in the base cast is asked for a lot and I can remember people gave Capcom ♥♥♥♥ for YEARS for not having all the World Warriors in SFV’s base cast
Popularity also isn’t everything when it comes to getting added to the game. The devs have said there are characters that interest them from a gameplay standpoint, which is why you’ll get oddball characters make it in along with fan favorites. Only way a character like Birdie would come back in SFV and Dee Jay wasn’t exactly a huge fan favorite either
