Downside is this playstyle isn't very fun or exciting, but it's the best way I've found to deal with Modern matchups.
Take some notes for whatever side of the fence you're on.
Modern just makes a few inputs easier, but it doesn't make the player god-like. You still gotta know how to use it effectively to get far with it.
Among new players, Modern controls are a problem because of assisted execution. 2 new players, 1 modern vs 1 classic, the classic controls user is going to be punished for putting in work to develop their skill and execution when going up against a modern control user with assisted combos or cheap gief.
Modern controls also greatly cheapens spectating. You witness tool assist more than you witness sharpened execution. Big yawn.
Modern controls are entirely unnecessary, hold newcomers back, and reveal the low opinion Capcom has of zoomers.
