Street Fighter™ 6

Street Fighter™ 6

Are you happy with the first DLC characters?
I'm sitting at 50/50.

A.K.I. and the new Ed are inreresting (even though he should've been in the main game, already, or left out) but couldn't care less about Akuma or Rashid (who, like Ed, should've been on the main roster, already, or left out).

Capcom should make a poll and ask the community what characters they really want, honestly.

Something like "Here's 50 characters from previous games that we want to bring back but we can only give you 25. Which ones do you want?" or some crap of the sort. That would actually hype players to acquire the damn DLC's rather than being left in the dark only to get garbage down the line.

Rashid was my second most played in 5, so if he plays that pressure mixup game still than I’m excited for him.

I’m curious to see how they will change Ed more than anything. There is no way they keep him simple with modern controls being a thing, so it’s a chance to give a redesign to his kit. Maybe this time around he will actually feel like a psycho power boxer. In 5 the boxing aspect felt like an after thought. If they do make him feel more like a boxer than I’m definitely interested but don’t really care if they keep him the same.

I’m indifferent to AKI and Akuma. Will be interesting how they balance Mr. “every tool in the tool shed” without gutting his health though.

Na, if it would be based on popularity it probably would be:

- Sagat
- Dudley/Balrog
- Makoto
- C. Viper
- Bison
- El Fuerte/Mika
- Guy

It wouldn't

Some of the characters you listed are at the top of list but others are much further down.

which would be a much better dlc list.

The SF6 seasons are 4 characters. You listed 9 different characters.

Should they also not be allowed to do new characters as DLC?

This dlc list is a complete joke. I have never seen in any Street Fighter before such an uninteresting dlc roster for the first year.

The only SF that's had a DLC roster is SF5. You're acting like there have been multiple SF games with DLC rosters like it's a Neatherealm game when SF6 is the second time they've done it.

Are they really planing to milk the playerbase for years by sprinkeling every year only one popular character into the mix ?

We don't know what Season 2 is going to be but they're always going to have a ringer like Akuma somewhere in the season to bump sales back up when the game has reached a lull.

To be fair, they've all but did DLC characters with SF4 honestly. Sure, expansions came with a *lot* more than just characters, as they were pretty much essential (an even worse business model) if you wanted to get the most up to date way of playing the current game, but realistically one of the biggest selling points still was that, and there isn't a whole lot of difference between what happened in SF5 and SF4 beyond the fact that, much like classic fighting games, you had to PAY for your full updates instead of getting base game changes for free and paying for characters.

That said, yeah no people not mentioning characters like Sakura really have no idea what would wind up being most popular at the end of the day. I will say though, this poll you link is probably pretty skewed in favor of what people wanted at the time I imagine, and also heavily dependent how many casual fans vs hardcore fans actually voted. Wouldn't doubt Makoto to be in top 10, and even several of the others that are there, but Blanka is genuinely surprising, as is Q being so high despite how fondly people talk of him. also Skullomania being 16th is pretty wild.
Don't care about any of them

Yes, SF4 was more about selling multiple versions of the same game over the course of years the way something like SF2 had been but over time more and more people just wanted to have the base game updated via online or DLC so you started seeing SF4 move more in that direction by the end of its life cycle while SF5 was like that from the outset.

I agree it's skewed not only because of the date but also because it's 150k which isn't that big when you think about SF6 selling a million in it's first week but there in lies another problem with fan polls and surveys is that you're only gauging a fraction of the audience.

I imagine some of the character positions would shift around a bit if it was done again today but a lot of it would probably stay pretty similar like the shotos are always going to be high up on these lists no matter what.

Yeah I know that voting poll, I linked it myself multiple times in this forum to prove that Rashid is not a highly requested character. I also think that it is just a freeze frame of which character were popular balance wise in that time period.

There is a difference between:

1) people liking to play a certain character in a certain SF because the character is op
2) people like a character independently from the current meta, design, style and move wise
Ed. I love being able to piano his punches. I HATE that they removed that from E.Honda and Blanka.
I hope Akuma will be as overpowered as in Tekken 7, not as weak as in Street Fighter 5.

literally false.

look at the number of people playing those characters from SF3, SFIV, and SFV. Ken is the standout most popular character. i am so grateful that Capcom does not listen to the "fanbase."

I dont know what you are talking about, Ken is already in the game.
Why should they re-release Ken if he is already in the game ?

We are of course only talking about characters which arent in the game at the moment.......I thought that would be obvious.
you were basing your analysis on popularity, and if that were the case, then Ken and his many clones would be DLC. that's why i'm glad Capcom doesn't pay attention to the fanbase.
season 1 dlc are trash , only akuma is ok . 0 fnal fight character :(

I hate to break this to you, but if they took it from Honda, there is no way Ed keeps the mash flicker. It was Honda’s thing. So if he doesn’t have it, no one will.
Currently too many male character. So I wish to have more girls.
I don't really care about them, since I'm new I will spend time learning my chosen character to a decent level for the foreseeable future.

Unless they happen to release a fighter that I totally vibe with, I'll probably wait until a bundle is released to buy the DLC characters.
depends on how they play. hard to tell from some drawings of em. they could be fun, they could be lame...who knows. time will tell.
