Baby Mode (Modern Controls) - Most Terrible Idea?
Bizzare to me, the easy mode was made to introduce people to the game yet almost every newcomer I speak with hate it, and it is mostly abused in Diamond and above, including even Legend and #1 rank, #3 EWC AND #6 EVO when game was only one month old!!!!!

I remember hating it as new player and getting harassed and insulted by people who do not even play the game here in Steam forums, merely for expressing my video game opinions.

Now, the vast majority of people see its ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ -especially Tekken refugees- which makes my sensitive soul feel safer expressing my understandable hate for it. After all, it is hard rejected by the whole community and if given filtering option, people would filter it out even more than they would for Wf-Fi!

What are your thoughts? I noticed forums are way cleaner and nicer place recently so I decided to make this discussion topic. ❤️

I changed my mind abt modern after seeing japanese players play it. It's not scrubby, and also not something you can freely 'abuse'. Modern is a choice you make on the character select screen, saying: "I am letting go of multiple options I have in classic in exchange for consistency, new ways of playing the game that didnt exist before and one button supers". To abuse modern is to cover up your weaknesses using the strengths that you get from your modern scheme, which takes skill, effort, and time, just like classic. I get that it feels completely justified to hate on modern after getting reaction supered by cammy for pressing a light, but you have to remember that they sacrificed something else to be able to do that on the character screen, and its on you as a player to abuse their weaknesses. For example, modern guile gets the ability to never let go of charge, leading to stupid consistency on sonic booms and flash kicks, basically never missing them, along with 1 button projectile super and 1 button 30% anti air. Its strong. In exchange, guile loses his overhead, which is a huge hit, and his 7f heavy that does 2800 damage meterless on a punish, both huge hits to his offense and defense. Also keep in mind that since its modern and you cant do perfect booms on modern while keeping charge, the booms do basically zero damage. The way I see it, he becomes a different character that you play against in a completely new way, leading to new mindgames and layered offense. My salt kinda just went away when I started to think of them as different characters.

The problem is, some characters literally lose nothing of value such as Mai.

Also, that they can get full damage anyways when they manual input.

And let’s be honest its whole existence is scrubby, to bring in people who wouldn’t spend time practicing.

OP is a troll that complains about modern for months (and also using sockpuppets).

Don't engage in his argument. Talk about anything else without feeding the troll.

I'd be fine if they put modern in a separate game, bc it changes the nature of the game. then, that game would be completely about the movement strategy without the reliance on execution.

Me too, should be different queues. It also takes no skill nor effort.

Love people reading my posts and contributing, while lying to others and begging them to ignore me.

oh we have Tekken refugees who might need a brief.

consider if it worth your time making serious response to threads/comments like this as it isn't the first and might not be the last, most of them initiated by familiar accounts that doesn't even have the game and had multiple ban.

Danny DeVito with a Gun might be keeping tabs on which accounts goes by which names are coordinated to pulling these stunt. would love to hear the record so far.

Here’s the harassment by easy mode users that I talked about. They do this to literally anyone speaking the truth.

Fortunately the vast majority hate M especially Tekken refugees because they know scrubness well.

Already mentioned his points are objectively wrong as characters like Mai are #1 because they lose literally nothing of value, Modern exists as easy mode (he said it’s not scrubby) AND M != characters at all, it’s a different game. ❤️

Please stop mass harassing everyone speaking against this broken crutch, and spamming every topic to death hoping it will get locked (soft censorship). 😊

I don’t even keep tabs, the dude barely hides that the alt accounts are his
They should just be separated from classic...
Also it disincentivizes from learning which makes them worse players in other fighting games.
I think it's a bad thing and a bad precedent when it's treated as anything but practice wheels.
Practice wheels are supposed to come off at some point but modern controls aren't I mean even the name itself '' modern '' makes it sound like it's what they want the game to be moving forward.

There's nothing wrong with adding options that makes it easier for casuals to play the game casually, the issue is when it has a negative effect on everyone else and the game gets designed around it.

It's just part of an annoying general trend too of people wanting rewards for putting in no work.
People feel entitled and like they should just get to press a button and succeed without even trying.
It just makes things in general feel more lame too, imagine if you could just toggle a setting in Tekken and do perfect electrics every time.
Electrics would completely lose their wow factor and things would very quickly become very annoying when everyone just spam them.
The whole reason why electrics are cool is because they're hard to do consistently, if they're not hard anymore then they're not cool anymore they're just another basic move.
The modern controls are the dumbest new feature ever. I really wonder: WHY IN THE WORLD did they put this into the game? Aren't people smart enough to remember four buttons in a row? Street Fighter has always been pretty simple in terms of controls - why make it even simpler and not reward people who know what they're doing?

For new players who want to play the old controls, it's just frustrating when other new players only have to press two buttons.

honestly whether you think the op is a troll or not..... just because someone complains for 3 months is probably not a strong arguement to invalidate the arguement, you can hate something for years and advocate for changes..and its still just as valid. If you dont like his way of attacking players ..... or getting in your face about it..... then i wont question your motives on that.

Yes I agree with this, it is for the lazy people that feel ENTITLED to have free effortless wins.

I agree with all of this, especially since SF6 has really toddler input system that is very easy to do.

But no, they want their effortless free wins. So we have to deal with broken instant button abusers.
