Yes, this game has everything for the casual and competitive player. You have a decent single player mode and casual PvP modes if ranked is not your thing, you can even play against AI models of ranked players. The core gameplay loop is fun and easy to understand but hard to master.

If you want to play casually, just for fun, and online, then no, I don’t recommend it, unless you don’t intend on taking it too seriously, but there’s a lot of single player content and modes you can enjoy without ever going online.

This has got more tools to properly learn Street Fighter than any previous entry has, so if you want to get into it, you won't find a better one. (Not to mention an infinity of even more resources can be found pretty easily on Youtube and a simple Google search due to the massive popularity of the game)

But much like any fighting game, you get out of it what you put into it so it's up to you how much you want to invest in it.

There's an easier control scheme for you if you'd like to try that. Finding matches isn't hard, but you might get discouraged playing against people online. It depends on what rank it places you in post placement matches. It feels good to play from beginner to pro, so it's really down to trying it out for yourself.
there's always the demo to try and see if you like how it's played

Capcom is one of the few devs out there that'll actually release a playable demo of their games nowadays (not counting betas, like actual demos)

was a tekken player since tekken 3 (skipped t5dr and t7) and the last played sf was 2 on genesis.. now Im having more fun on sf6 than tekken 8 (even I still have more hrs currently on t8).

Learning a character on t8 feels like a job, 100+ moves for each character :D
I also hate the monetization scheme on t8
thank you im gonna buy but which version?
all of them are on sale.:MillaThink:

Honestly, just get the regular version, you can always buy the character passes separately after deciding you actually like playing it during the next major Steam sale. Or if you only like one or two characters you can buy them individually in-game.

The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Only the competitive player. Casual players are already playing something else.
You seem salty, judging by your posts. Take this guy's posts with a grain of salt (literally).

I feel really frustrated. As a newcomer, I have to compete against players with five hundred hours of experience because the ranking system isn't effective.
Hours aren't everything, I've gone against players who had four times my time in the game who didn't pose much of a threat. And people with half my time who mopped the floor with me.

While I will agree the ranked system isn't perfect, generally speaking if a player is in a rank, they're probably there for a reason and aren't out of the realm of the unbeatable. And if they are, well, they'll propel themselves out of your rank soon enough and they won't be a problem for long, especially if you're still in a rank where winstreak bonuses apply.

No matter what, if you are brand new you lose a lot. It's just how it is with fighting games. look for ways to improve, look for solutions, watch tips and tricks type stuff. It's a learning journey and takes time to understand.

Yes I think you will love the game. I'm really enjoying it casually and as far as casual modes in fighting games are concerned, SF6 is fantastic. The world tour mode is nothing award winning but it's way more engaging than most text based stories such as tekken or soul caliber. There are really good tutorials as well and plenty of accessibility options that can make the game much more friendly to newer players.

I would buy the regular version and if you like it, then just add the character pass that's on sale so that you can get the other characters at the reduced price. The new year two characters are not on sale yet and I'm waiting for a sale to buy that myself. Enjoy and have fun, its a great fighting game.

Tekken is better.
