The vast majority of master players are sub 1500
The problem with ‘master’ is there is a huge skill gap between the 2000+MR players and the sub 1500
‘Master’ really needs to be broken up into more ranks
I have 8 characters in Master and I’m honestly not even that good. I literally got Terry to master over the weekend in less than 10 hours. I’m not expected to be on the same level as some sweaty 2000MR player who has over 1000 hours on his main character
Yeah, after reaching master, the meta is to come on forums and trash talk people about how easy it is to get master and how you just have to pick modern and mash auto combo to reach it.
Ya thats normal for most. Hit master and drop MMR. Keep focusing on improvement not Ws and youll get there.
I ussually take a break and play casual. The game will feed you a combination of samish players and higher MMR players. Look to commit to longer sets and focus on adapting to your opponents and working on gameplans.
Remmember this isnt pre master where points came easy, small gains in MMR = imptovement.
GLHF
Also never get discouraged about having low MR because the vast majority of people playing this game can’t even get to master to begin with. The masses are stuck in gold and platinum
First, getting to masters is already a great achievement and even now it makes you WAY, way above the norm. You have no idea how many people stop at platinum or fail to finish diamond ranks.
second, To go beyond 1500-1600 you have to study, seriously study with enormous rigor the match up, the frame data and every possible setup. you have to know exactly which button to press in each iteration with no room for error (which you can instead afford in more casual battles).
it is not an exaggeration because people in the master rank are not there to have fun, they are there to win. And they are in fact the best.
Personally I find the MR a bit too punishing, but for someone who seeks the challenge and wants to be in the club of the best it's right that it be so.
1- Veterans of ten+ years playing the same damned game.
2- And playing in easy chill region, who got to Master when game was new beating casuals. Then never even really played Ranked after climbing of noobs and casuals.
This really is it, then they come here saying “oh yeah we reached Master easily” eliding their probably close to two decades experience lmao.
For someone who never played a fighting game “competitively/seriously” and learnt as they climb from lowest rank to multiple characters in Master (and still playing Master rank agains said vets AND keeping up/even winning ~50%) it is a feat.
