MenaRD hates drive rush.
In a recent tweet MenaRD states "I think if you take Drive Rush away entirely, Street Fighter 6 is a better game."

There it is. From a PRO. What are your thoughts? Did MenaRD just get mad cause he lost to drive rush? Is drive rush gonna be like V-Trigger where it's hated most of the game's life, but once the next SF comes out apologists will come out in droves?

Not just [rush], but the whole damn [drive system] needs to be removed! The game is already bad enough as-is, with stupid hitboxes and broken characters!

What's your proposal on how to change it and balance the game?

Yep hard agree the whole Drive system suck. I can see it now as I gained fighting games experience.

Focus Attack in SF4 is so different they did not take notes properly.

Lets hope Super SF6 has good changes, including M nerf and allowing players to block it.

BTW I don’t care about “pros”.

1. Remove the whole Drive System!
2. Fire the whole dev team responsible for making this crap!
3. Hire people who know how to program a FTG properly!

Mena came out on fire and has since not asserted his dominance like he would have.liked. He blames the games mechanics for his inability to perform like he feels he should. In other words MenaRD thinks MenaRD would make more money if there was no drive rush.

This is just typical lazy gaslighting “skill issue/scrub” talk when people criticize the game. It’s even more funny this time because although I hate “pros” but truth be told he accomplished things you won’t— not even 5% of in your entire life time.

This toxic positive behavior is not needed, it is killing the game and any sense of “community”. A poor ad hominem by the intellectually bankrupt.

Sometimes, things are broken. Most-times, things SHOULD be criticized.

I thought it was limited to that broken “Modern” crutch but boy oh boy, am I new to this “fgc” (that I wish zero part in).

As for COTW. I am VERY excited for it but we all know it will be dead in six months if not less. Will play it and enjoy it while I can but I am not delusional.

Probably

And yes

Pros can be salty too, and sometimes that salt is still in their system by the time they get to the "Send tweet" button. I do agree with the notion that they could do something to make drive rush equally potent on all characters. But getting rid of it isn't going to happen I don't think, the whole drive system is too interlocked so removing one part of it would unbalance the whole thing. I could see Capcom doing some mid-life change up to the drive system, but I really can't imagine them removing a mechanic that is basically the core of the game's identity. It'd be like Capcom deciding in Second Impact that the parries introduced in Street Fighter III had to go, at that point you're not playing Street Fighter III any more.

You answered with such sincerity that now I feel bad for ♥♥♥♥-posting :steamsad:

But no, I know. If anything I think the system feels kind of samey for each character and leads to less player expression. Like I always see the same combos. I don't have an opinion beyond that though.
Peddie Jan 26 @ 2:33pm
lmao sorry for missing it wasn't a serious post.

But while we're at it, while the combo expression certainly isn't on par with what you'd see in like, a Blazblue or, say, Xrd, I think it was a concession that had to be made in order to make it more accessible. But folks have been pointing out that while the game's execution is much easier than it has been in previous games, thus leading to the best combo being found more easily than before (along with very good resources in game). It instead makes up for it by having high level decision making by there basically being six meters (and the clock) you constantly be keeping in mind, and that even at the highest level, players make mistakes. They commit too many resources or not enough, and they pay the price for it. So while it's not as flashy as every player having a combo they can call their own you do get to see very individual ways of how people deal with these resources and the added mental stack it brings. Including as outrageous as Noah's complete disregard for maintaining his drive gauge and spending half his matches in burnout. And while not as exciting to the casual observer, that too is expression.

Agreed. The drive mechanics all suck on their own, and together, they still suck. And then we have throw loops.
i'd love to see universal DR stats, I remember assuming that it was when I played the open beta. For some characters like Ken, DJ and Bison, DR practically *is* an attack on it's own.
Peddie Jan 26 @ 2:38pm
And then some characters where you're gently floating forward and you really just use it for the extra stun frames.
There is 1 major rule the drive system respects that instantly makes it better than V-Trigger could have ever hoped to be
You do not make your main mechanic a comeback mechanic, ever.
In SF5 especially with the season 1-2 cast you're playing a neutered version of your character until you're at about half health, and that sucks so much.
Say whatever you will about how much you hate Drive Rush,Drive Impact,Drive Reversal, etc. to that I say cool, if it pisses you off so much why are you still here playing? Go and play the old game, there are more than enough players.
At least the drive system isn't a comeback centric core system
