Are you gonna switch from this to Fatal Fury?
I bought SFV months before to SF6 launched and the game died the instant Capcom released it. I know it's not the same situation but I wanna know if Fatal Fury will be serious competition, because I don't want to buy a game that is going to die again. So you'll switch, or will try it out but stay at SF6?

I dunno if someone said it yet but look at it this way, SF6 and the FF game are just fighting games, after SF6 was out, Tekken8 another fighting game came out and did people switch? I mean some of them for sure, but SF6 still has a healthy playerbase.

I predict it'll be the same with FF though maybe more since the two games are closer to eachother than T8

Myself? Well I loved fighting games since I was a kid but only recently started getting seriously into them so just as always I'm gonna try out whatever I can get my hands on but in the end I'll just stick to what I like most (which for now is SF6)

I can safely say that the only game that can tank SF6's player pool will be SF7. So you shouldn't worry too much on that front. Also SFV wasn't the most welcomed entry in the series and people were glad to see the back of it, SF6 is still well liked and is still every day getting more players than SFV had during its all time peak on Steam alone.

So you'll still find matches no problem even after CotW releases.
I mean... when a new entry in a series comes out its obvious people are gonna go play the newer one. But what does COTW have to do with it? It's not SF7, it's a completely different game from a completely different company, with completely different style, characters, fanbase etc.

Yes there is an overlay with Capcom and SNK fandoms but at the end of the day they're still different.

Capcom fans will stick with SF6, SNK fans will go for COTW but who says either one can't play both? I plan to play both SF6 and COTW when it comes out (and also a bit of GGST on the side)

As for the player numbers, SF6 will definetely be the more popular one after COTW releases, Capcom and Street Fighter are much more well known and mainstream than SNK but that doesn't mean COTW won't have a good playerbase. It's just that it won't be as big as SF's.
Speaking of COTW, just watched some trailer and I think a lot of people will whine about it. It's a cell shaded game with a rev mode (possibly something similar to drive gauge) and smart controls (modern controls variations, maybe?).
Yeah bro when it comes out, SF is done. This will be the last SF game ever. Dead and buried.

Smart Controls are nerfed AF I made a topic about it. SNK got it right. It is not meant to be used high level. Game looks fire.

Yeah right bro. SFV already killed SF and SF6 resurrected it and has steady player base all thanks to the 24% year one modern controls.
I doubt CotW will make a meaningful dent in SF6 playerbase. It does seem like a quite different game in many aspects and the IP and production value is likely to have far less reaching appeal. Personally, first time I heard of FF as someone not immersed in fighting games was when SF6 did the reveal of season2 roster.

As for myself: I doubt I will be switching or even getting CotW on launch - I am not even close to being done with SF6, and I don’t have time in my life nor brainpower for learning a 2nd fighting game. If I did I would rather go with a 3d one.

Still, I will keep an eye on the game, hoping it will be good!

Yeah because SF6 is the newest game lmao. That’s how it works with every fighting game

Most any game really, the current CoD's player counts will tank the moment the next one releases. As will FIFA's (or whatever EA calls their football games now), and so on. Everybody wants to try out the new entry in their favourite series and there has to be something dramatically wrong with it if people ever move back to the old one in great numbers.

It'll be dead in 2 months, with nothing but chinese players left playing it. Just like 14 & 15.
I'm going to play both? I think this Fatal Fury is going to do well as long as the netcode is good.

I'll probably buy it day one with all bells and whistles, hope that that Android 18 chick is playable in it, (I know her name is Blue Mary, but c'mon we all know whose homework was copied here) spend 10-20h with it and then go back to playing SF. It has always been like that with every FG I tried.
I'm going to wait for some months or a year and buy it on a huge sale. Then I will play arcade mode with every character.

Wasn't even going to buy it before they announced Chun Li.

Will be a day one buy now (yes, guest characters really do move units) ,but whether I stick with it or not depends on the netcode and if the game is actually any fun.

Will it replace SF6 for me?

Unless it's unbelievably good almost certainly not. The only games i can think of that would make me drop SF6 are SF7 and CvS 3 (assuming it didn't suck)
