Ranking system?
Don't you fight your way up from new challenger to iron 1, 2, etc., then bronze, silver, gold..?

I am in bronze 1 with Blanka.

With Zangief I played 9/10 matches as a new challenger, but now I am in gold 1 -> ???
Is this a bug?

No because that's what the calibration process is for. You can absolutely calibrate higher on a second character than on your main. But you can't calibrate more than two ranks lower than your best character.

The game already has that mode... its called Arcade, bro. Or VSim in the Battle Hub.

Yeah I'd have to agree, deliberately using a second account and calibrating low just so you can dunk on newbies is just poor form. That's just a good way to encourage people brand new to the game to play something else.

is it though? theres a lot of bronze players that have been rookie/bronze since launch. whats discouraging them from improving? maybe seeing a better player will make them want to get better? is the online landscape that emotionally unstable that if someone better is around them, they curl up in a corner and cry?
Peddie Dec 9, 2024 @ 3:12am
You're not trying to help them improve though, you just said earlier you're just looking to score easy wins while doing gimmick strats without needing to even try. There's plenty of newbie friendly Discord servers out there where you could offer to coach someone who actually wants to improve. You're not really going to be able to teach much of anything if you just dunk on people with nothing but jabs and then move on in a mode with no communication of any nature.

And if someone is 4000 matches deep and still happy doing full screen tatsumaki after full screen tatsumaki in Silver 1 that's kind of their business y'know? Not everyone has the ambition to gun for Master.

I don't know why you would do that. Just bunch of players not understanding fundamentals of SF6. They are either very new, or uninterested in learning "proper" play. Even as a new player, after World Tour I was able to go on almost uninterrupted win streak all the way to high gold.

Fortunately, the game has rank boost so if you win you move out of those ranks in no time.

does it? again i wouldnt know, i never got anything less than plat 4. also, with a lower rank like that, if my nieces or nephews want to learn how to play, what better opponents to put them up against in ranked? if they wanted to try to rank up on my main account, then i can see it being unfair. but id like to get in bronze mostly as a training tool for these keeds when im not around to help them learn. experience helps a lot. its not exactly just for smurfing lol

You can use Family Share to let them play the game on their own Steam accounts with their own CFNs to match. That would also give you a more accurate way of monitoring their progress so you can give more accurate feedback.

Why not using vsim then? The AI does a decent job mimiking real players.
