Anyone using the Hori Fighting Commander Octa?
I’m currently using an Xbox one controller and it’s not bad most of the time but I noticed I still have issues with the dpad. Is it any better on the Hori? Are the 6 face buttons useful?

Using same gamepad here, i have about 5 Xbox one s pads.
Sometimes up needs to pressed harder I find on the xbox one s pads.
I also use an xbox one non s pad (non bluetooth one) and up is a tiny bit off on there too.
Not sure about Hori sorry

Considering I learned to play Street Fighter on a Saturn pad I honestly cannot function without six face buttons. So I've been using a Fighting Commander 4 for the better part of a decade now. I'm not sure how useful it would be for someone that learned to play SF on a Playstation or Xbox but having all attack buttons in two neat rows definitely helps for me.

Obviously the Octa is different from the 4, but at least on the 4 it has a pretty nice D-pad.

I used the Dual shock 4 (cammo) edition gamepad untill the Dpad was so pushed in, it was constantly locked to left... From playing "Kombat League" on Mortal Kombat 11 and pushing myself through about 6 full leagues and getting to "demi god" rank.

Soon after I literally found about 4 great condition Xbox one "s" and non "s" pads, Discarded at my local Recycling centre (where I worked at the time).

I have sworn by the clicky Xbox one dpads ever since.

My cammo Dual shock 4 has been un used ever since.

the Hori ones look real good.

any pad would work but avoid the hori octa. I purchased it twice and both time had to return because of DPAD glitches and no support. Had it worked it wouldve been a really good controller. On my 7th Razer Raion. But they're also fazing the Raion out. Good luck
I have an FC Octa and it's good overall. But I personally much prefer the dpad of the previous Hori FC. If PS5 wasn't tournament standard, I'd still be using it. I don't own an Xbox controller but I've literally never liked their dpads

I don't actually use all 6 of the face buttons on the FC. I still use the shoulder buttons similar to if I was on a standard DS4

I recently got an octa. I have been playing on 6 button fight pads for over a decade now.

so far I am liking it a lot. the default button mapping is a bit weird but Hori has a control program you can install to easily remap the buttons to whatever you want.

for the past 4 years or so I have been using a power A fusion fightpad (PS4 version) and that is good too though I think power A is no longer making them. I wanted something readily compatible with PS5 in case I want to start going to offline events again and the Octa fits the bill

I greatly prefer the sega style disk d-pads on the fusion, octa, and madcatz fightpad SD I used before. I also owned the hori FC4 with the nintendo style cross d-pad and hated it

I use the Razer Raion and I love it. It has the best, most precise dpad I have ever used and I find that the 6 face buttons are a must. It is discontinued but you can still get it on eBay. I just bought a 2nd one as a backup for $75 in excellent condition.
*One thing to note: the earlier model of this controller did not have a rocker under the dpad, which caused issues with inputs. I modded my first one to add a rocker and it was perfect, and the 2nd one I purchased was newer and had the rocker.

Yes i bought a hori octa and never went back for fighting games, dpads of most controllers are trash for this genre

I recommend the Power A Fusion (Xbox version, preferably. Not the Switch version) as it has a great Saturn style d-pad and 10 unique buttons for 4 macros on the triggers/shoulders.

Outside of the US you might need to settle for the PS4 version, which is fine as you can use Steam Input to convert to XInput. Obviously you will have Xbox button prompts then.

I have the octa, and the dpad is stiff and terrible. It's super difficult to hold diagonals. Sucks, because the buttons are fantastic. I prefer the 8bitdo M30 2.4 GHz in wired mode, thought it is a bit small.

Another vote for the 8bitdo M30. I don't really use pads for fighters often but when I do, this is the one.

It's no frills but has six face buttons and an excellent dpad.

The user of this gamepad is here! It's really a very comfortable gamepad, both for fighting games and other games that don't use the right stick. The only thing that will take some getting used to is how you hold it. The index, middle, and ring fingers will be involved.
I can definitely recommend this gamepad. There's a person here praising dpad, I can definitely attest to what he said.

The quality of Razor peripherals has always been very low quality. The first month is fine, and then the cheap parts just die or something inside falls off. And also give up $40 of $75 just for a brand name with no repair options..... is a very bad deal to me.
