Oh yeah there was something being applied! Well, as much as it sucks, good to hear it ain't just me :/ Guess it's time to wait for the next patch from the guys
So, I reinstalled the game. Didn't think that will do anything, but did it anyway.
I tested if it works and it worked, but, because I had vsync off. Accidentally and I don't really remember why I turned it off, but did so globally through NVidia settings. And when the vsync is off, the game works wonders. Full 60 all the time with maybe a 2 frames dip during supers (so at least for me a usual stuff. Nothing that you can feel without the frame counter on). I turned the vsync on again - or to be more precise I put the setting on default, so "Use the application settings" aaaaand the game was back to heavy slow me 48 FPS shenanigans.
Now, I have no idea what be the cause of the issue per say - I ALWAYS use vsync, I hate tearing with passion, and all other games run as per usual. I am also paranoid so made sure the PC is fine and all the stats shows that the PC is safe and sound.
It might either be something done by Capcom, or it may be something done by NVidia (the problem started either after I installed new GeForce drivers that came with launch of Starfield, and then I didn't play until there was some small patch for SF) but turning vsync completely seems to resolve the problem.
I still hope the problem will be gone completely after AKI patch... this Friday, or was it Thursday? For now that's what it is.
If anyone has the similar problems out of a sudden, let me know if the vsync settings works for you!
It's caused with a wired controller + steam + sf6. I can go into training mode, unplug the controller and the game feels amazing and stutterless with keyboard only.
But as soon as the controller is in every 4 seconds, or 10 seconds, or whatever random time, there's a instant fps drop to 1fps (for 1 frame or so) that the counter doesn't even notice (it goes from 60 to 57). But it's enough to mess up timings and make you drop a jab combo or mess up a link.
Other than requesting all the data regarding my rig and configs, they - of course - sent me to the troubleshooting thread here on Steam, saying to read it even if I did before, but also, to especially try the section about exclusions in antivirus. Now, I'm a simple guy who uses Microsoft Defender, but I did as the guide said. To my surprise, that actually worked! I'm sitting now on rocksolid 60FPS on my standard settings - which is High preset no changes at all), even when I do supers and such - and those would usually drop to like 57. Now the FPS is 60 all the time, all arenas, all characters, all modes.
I replied to Capcom asking why exactly that would be the case. I don't know if I'll get any reply, but if so, I'll definitely post it here, seeing like from time to time new faces appear.
Maybe, if that's ok, we could make it a secondary tech thread, if it's fine with the admins?
What controller you're using?
And did you try changing the Steam controller settings?
It was quite a long time ago, but I remember having weird issues in fighting games back when I was using DS4 wired. I don't remember precisely the configuration, but fooling around with the Steam settings for controller helped.
I've noticed something like this. It's some sort of micro-stuttering, I think, as my FPS counter doesn't drop below 60 when it happens.
