Cannot do a single Drive Reversal....ever

Been trying to do the challenge for it, and I cannot pull of a single one, one of three things happen:
- I just block
- I get hit
- I do a drive impact

I have read over and over how to do this, but if I press forward + drive impact, nothing ever happens. What am I doing wrong?

You have to press it during block stun. That is, in the frames where you cannot move during a block or parry. You can't do it raw. And if you try to do it on a fast attack like a jab the block stun might be so short that you press it too late and get drive impact instead.

I never do them on a fighting stick for sure, but with a controller I found the window large enough

You block, then hit forward and DI. back, forward, di. The karate minigame in World Tour is good practice for this. Gotta be fast. If an Impact is coming out then too much time has passed. We're talking milliseconds so it's hard to explain

the forward+DI input needs to be done while you are in blockstun (blocking)

so you block and immediately hit forward + DI

if you are too slow and are no longer in block stun you will just get DI.

Yeah I get that I need to be blocking, and always am trying but always the 3 things I said above happen:
- I just block
- I get hit
- I do a drive impact

I am also using a pad...

I dont care about doing them in mplayer but im trying to finish all the single player quests and this is the last one I have. I wondered if there was a way to cheese the "perform 3 drive reversals" quest...all she does is light attacks.
