Platinum SF6 is Silver SFV
Can we please go back to the SFV ranking system, Capcom?

EDIT: also remove the ability to be placed above gold.

Why? Just keep climbing.

If it's true then you should have no issue reaching diamond, right? And if you do, then what do you care what the average level below is?

unironically who cares? also you're comparing the skill levels of ranks in a game that's been out for 7 years to one that just came out 3 weeks ago. get real dude

I have no problem climbing. I already have 3 characters high ranked. I'm simply making the point that the SFV ranking system was better.

This ranking system makes more sense. You want people to feel good about their rank. If everyone is stuck in bronze when they begin, they won't feel good about playing the game. You want to make people feel good so they continue to play the game.

What was the rank distribution like in sf5? It looks pretty much exactly how I'd expect it to in sf6, that being a bell curve with most people gathered around the center in silver (silver being 21% of the total player pop)[www.gfinityesports.com], with a drop off for gold (14%), another drop for plat (10%) and a steep drop for diamond and master (those being 2.7% and 0.09% respectively).

If silver in sf5 was the 86th percentile as plat is here, then I'm not entirely sure how useful that system is at sorting people, since it means most would be clumped together in the lower ranks, with very little separating them.

Here is what I found on SFV's rank distribution.

It seems like it doesn't rank people to form a nice bell curve like 6 does. It was very discouraging for new players.
Dw Dia 3 here and still facing hard ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ random DI spam jumping etc, maybe i should consider going evo because i Aair and counter DI i dunno

Super Silver in SFV was roughly 73rd percentile. Ultra Silver was 77th. Gold was 80th. Platinum was 91st. And there were still nine more ranks above that. The high ranks in SFV were *extremely* rarefied.

It took like 2 months for the first player to reach diamond when street fighter V first launched, this game is more similar to V than V was to IV so people who played that game can use that experience to rank up and there are more new comers to this game than with V.

There's 5 ranks in Platinum, a one star platinum is not the same level of player as Five Star platinum

Street Fighter V only had platinum, super platinum, and ultra platinum, so there's two more ranks added for each tier
