Wait wait wait. I know that sounds douchey but it's the truth. There's really no cure to getting corner locked beyond just getting better. Corner pressure varies based on the character doing it, the amount of cheese they're using, your character, your characters speed, your personal ability to hit buttons quickly, etc., etc..
Unless a particular character is just blatantly broken and the developers forgot to add gaps to the frames, or in the FGC I think they're referred to as recovery frames, then there'll always be a point where their combo resets and you can throw out a fast hit to get some distance. You can also try jumping over them, but if you don't know how to stay out of a corner then all you're doing is setting yourself up to be corner locked again.
Chances are if they're able to keep you locked in a corner it's because you're spamming something to try and get out of it and they're punishing the hell out of you for it. Try paying attention to how many times you see "Punish Counter!" or something similar come up when you're being corner locked. Like Ken says in the campaign "Blindly throwing out attacks is a good way to get your ass beat.". Well he doesn't say it exactly like that but the sentiment is the same.
As someone who's not a "Fighting Game Vet" as people like to refer to themselves as, one thing I learned playing Guilty Gear Strive was that once I stopped panicking when in the corner and slowed down my button inputs and made my commands more deliberate, I started getting out of that stuff a lot more, and it got to the point where I was comfortable in the pocket(corner) and could get out of being corner locked fairly easily.
If you feel like they're going to throw you when you block their combos, then do a throw of your own. You'll either grab them and do a throw yourself, getting yourself out of the corner, or you'll tech their throw attempt, knocking them back and giving you a chance to get out of the corner. Also, watch videos on how to get out of a corner with the character you like to play. There's tons of beginner tutorial videos out there like that. Once you start watching them you'll find most people who corner lock are just spamming buttons as well, or their entire skill level drops off if they can't keep someone in a corner.
yep go watch this.
Really great timing on this video. Have a friend who was having the exact same problems and this video came out at what seemed like a perfect time.
A lot of people approach the game looking for answers that work in every situation but that's not what street fighter is about.
The best you can do is know what your options are and what the risks and rewards for those options are.
If you're opponent isn't shimmying you, the answer is a delayed throw tech that will result in blocking any meaty hits but will also tech a throw if they try to throw you on wake up.
Show them that they need to shimmy you to beat the delayed throw tech, or if they aren't shimmying you they will have to start delaying their attacks on wakeup so that they are not meaty. Once they have to use shimmy's and non-meaty attacks then now suddenly you have a chance to jab, or jump on wakeup with a real chance of success.
Make sure you're throwing out the DP at some point even if it gets blocked. If you never throw out a DP, then there really isn't much of a reason to try and play around it, so make sure they know you're willing to do it.
block and delay throw tech (works vs throw loops/meaty button, can be baited)
backdash (beats meaty throw, loses to meaty buttons)
jump forward (dodges meaty throw loops, loses to meaty button, can be anti aired but puts you midscreen)
neutral/back jump (dodges and gives full punish on grab if character has good air button, loses to meaty button, might be anti aired but depends on the character)
wake up reversal/super (beats meaty throw, meaty button, can be baited)
wake up parry (beats meaty button/safejumps, loses to throws)
wake up buttons (takes turn back against mistimed setups, fake setups, throw bait, loses to meaty grab/buttons)
block jump option select (you block then jump immediately which keeps you grounded if they meaty but avoids grabs, useful vs command throw characters
those ur options, some options you might only use when you have a hard read on your opponent but generally you want to delay throw tech until they start baiting
You defend and use the throw command a bit later. IF they try to throw you, you will get of the throw. If they try to hit you, you will defend the attack and not throw because you are on defense stun (or whatever its called)

I just want to say I've been talking with other people about the game and, generally speaking, everyone is saying how being cornered on this game is way more brutal than in any other fighting games previously.
Not a problem though, it works both sides :) .
block push will create space for you to fight your way out
if you'r in a real tight spot, spend bar for alpha counter, whatever that's called in this game
