I have heard good things about that one, and it doesn't seem too expensive. How is the feel of the D-pad? Never used one quite like it.
I've been using the Xbox pad and it's.. okay. Until seeing the m30 I was thinking of swapping to keyboard or modding the analog stick on my xbox pad. As a stinky smasher I'm already familiar with notching controllers for consistent inputs and the concept applies here too. File triangles for each of the 8 directions, profit. Hell there might even be pre-made faceplates for this exact thing.
It's less tactile and has less resistance than the XBone and Dual Sense's D-Pads which makes it feel faster but doesnt feel loose. It's easy to place your thumb in the center and make movements without sliding your finger around on the DPad which makes it feel more comfortable and accurate and works better with charge characters.
I dunno, it's hard to explain but if I'm playing a fighter with a pad it's my go-to. The 6 face buttons are awesome to have too.
and you need the shoulders for some EX moves that need a light and heavy button to be pressed. also SF6 puts DR and DP on the left shoulder, although DP gets the trigger so using it for perfect parries is tough
that 8bid M30 looks very similar but it only has one button on each shoulder which might cause issues for doing certain EX moves
Just set DI on the left trigger and parry on the left shoulder button. Dunno what the problem is.
DI and Parry seemed easy enough to hit both buttons at the same time with your thumb. Especially with the 6 button setup.
Is that a Problem on the 8bitdo with the different size buttons? Not sure about the actual size.
it is, but having a dedicated button helps when your brain is in scramble mode. plus no chance of hitting one button too soon.
i have had several instances now of seeing my attack eaten by a DI and instinctively hitting LB at the last possible second to counter DI
D-pad isn't as wiggly as most others, and it has a nice rubberized grip to it.
My second choice for any other kind of retro game is 8bitdo SN30 Pro 2. Has a cross d-pad, decent analog sticks, and is kind of a combo of SNES and PS pads. I use this one for World Tour and when messing around with modern controls.
8bitdo M30 sounds like the way to go then, especially for the price.
