I do agree it needs to have AI do funny expression back too on loading screen when we do it
You can infinitely rematch against the same character.
Obviously if you want to get better at fighting players, you can just play against real players, so why use a simulation of real players
But since you can just pick any fighter to go against at any level. You can take a bunch of time learning the match-up against a specific fighter like Dhalsim that you barely ever see, and have a decent idea of how they'll play when you run into one. Rather than slowly learning how to counter him that 1 in every 100 matches you actually get to see him used.
Outside of that the actual mechanic is great.
I got 1 character (Cammy) to Master Rank, trying to figure out what the interest is.
However, as far as I can tell, it's just another Training Mode, but in Battle Hub.
I got some emotes, but aside from that, I think I'm missing something obvious.
I finished them all but the ones that require training your own bot because Extreme Matches don't count, I'm stuck on Ranked and Casual/♥♥♥♥♥♥ Hub are cancer.
I think that V-Rival's current skill cap is right about that of a Platinum 1/ Gold 5, which is pretty disappointing. As someone who was hoping to use it as a training tool, I think it will be useful for characters I have never touched, or have just released. Outside of that, it just feels like an easier Arcade Mode, sadly.
I think the best use of V-Rival is the ability to fight "yourself" - I do think it highlights your bad habits, and areas where you are overly predictable, and in a way that is more dynamic and fun than just watching replays for a while. However, the challenge there is in having to fight 50 mirror matches. For Dhalsim and Honda players, that could take a year or two...
