Is there an abbreviated definition? And why is it important? [I've never played a fighting game on computer before]
Most computers have a jack for ethernet cords (and if yours doesn't, there are adapters available for that.) If you hook up to your router or any of its extensions, your internet will be more reliable, and often faster.
Honestly, I just want a filter for online play, that just automatically rejects matches without a LAN connection.
the wifi is fine for ranked matches, unless of course you're doing with red colored connection.
That literally has nothing to do with it.
Your skill as a player is completely separate from enjoying laggy matches.
It baffled me when I did accept wifi matches, had enough lag where characters were jumpy and stuttering for 5+ frame intervals, and the other person wanted a rematch. Apparently that's "fine?"
No. Even if 60-70% of matches are lag free that's still 3-4 out of 10 matches that aren't.
And I'm not trying to blame losses on it; I don't want to be playing on wi-fi even if I do win. It just makes your inputs and the game unreliable, so what's even the point of playing the game?
If you know what you're doing, there's potential for *everybody* to do worse because of wi-fi, because the connection isn't as smooth. It's like driving on a road full of potholes. Why do that when you can just take a smooth road?
Sorry to hear about your connection problems though.
i guess what im saying is that the SF6 netcode is so good, that i have great connection with wifi and ethernet. so much so, that for me, the whole 'wifi v ethernet' discourse is negligible.
