Topanga Championship 5
Topanga Championship is back and has brought plenty of great sets to watch

For those who don’t know, Topanga Championship is an invitational series in Japan where three groups of 9 compete in a round robin format. 7 players will move on to the final stage where they compete against each other in FT7s

This is the first Topanga for SF6 and previous iterations brought some of my favorite matches of all time. It’s a great watch

The streams are only in Japanese but are available to watch on Topanga’s YouTube channel https://youtube.com/@topanga_jpn?si=4PbS3vm1Wojl1EKk

Updated for day 2 of the finals. Kobayan remains undefeated going into the final day. But with three players sharing a 3-1 record, he's not in the clear yet

Kobayan got really emotional after victory over Kawano. Great watch

Topanga is officially over. Kobayan could not be stopped and is this year's champion with a 6-0 record. Kawano came the closest to beating him but Kobayan managed to over take him in their tiebreaker sets. With his skill, it's no wonder Gief is often considered top tier in Japan. I don't agree with it at all, but I get it

Hope you enjoyed watching it. For those that didn't I would highly encourage you the check it out. Double elim brackets are fun but a round robin really hits different.

Round robin does let you see a lot more players go against each other than double elimination does. Especially if some upsets knock out a number of the legends early.
