Classic or modern
What are the advantages from classic over modern?

Modern have combos already automized, i feel like its quite the advantage over people who have to input everything and potentially whiff, just got the game and it feels weird
I could try to learn the game normally or have the game play itself it seems?

Modern: You don't have to fight the controls, on top of the opponent.
Classic: Complete movelist available and you also don't get hAtE from the pUrIsTs.

Do you want to play the game for more than a month? Learn classic.

Otherwise have fun with modern pushing buttons and stuff

Try both and see whatever works best for you.

You know, I play Tomb Raider I-III Remastered and purists there are exactly the same. I played TR my whole life with classic controls, but the modern controls are undeniably more practical. Yet they just hate it for hating.
In the case of SF6, I dismiss the modern because the movelist feels a bit limited indeed, but it's silly when they complain about other people using modern on the threads.

Honestly, if you are brand new to fighting games and have trouble with motion inputs play Modern until you are familiar with the flow of the game. There is a 20% damage reduction and a more limited move set, but there is a less steep learning curve for figuring out how you are supposed to play and how to win a match. I think it's easier to transition to classic when you have a better understanding of the game.

I do play and have knowledge about fighting games in general, i just dont know whether i like street fighter now or not

Been going a bit at it in the tutorial and both controls just kinda feel weird to me, i use a controller and classic controlls can be a bit of a pain if its not simple Hadoken inputs

shoryuken input is already kind of a hassle to use (even in other games like guilty gear), my recent game was fighter z and all characters had the same mapping for specials, which made the game a lot more accessible in my opinion, literally only hadoken inputs forward and backwards

I think i will give it a go again later, still a bit hesitant about whether to refund or not while i still can.

I say Classic all the way without a second thought, but I don't speak in your name.

Regardless of what people say, Classic controls always worked on regular controllers and they feel perfectly fine, no need for sticks, hitboxes or whatever people use as an excuse nowadays.

Modern feels so confusing it's like I can't even tell what moves are coming out. Like playing Devil May Cry on automatic or something. So classic feels way better. But at the same time some inputs can be really really difficult if you have a bad controller so yea ...

You say that, but it really doesn't with an analog stick. Way too iffy if your move will actually work or not since there is no gate/notches on analog stick, and the dpad is just too uncomfortable to use. The shoulder button setup is also kind of weird. Best to get a fighting controller or stick imo. It's playable, but feels you can never play comfortably while doing consistent inputs. My opinion after trying with ds4.

Modern if you don't actually want to learn the game and press buttons, meaning you won't last long and stay a low tier fighter.

Classic if you actually want to learn.

Modern removes half of your normals and sometimes some command normals which can limit your character's versatility. On top of that, your special attacks have a 20% damage reduction (if you're playing as Zangief I think his powerful 3 super art is further penalized but in exchange you get to do it in neutral vs on classic you have to input buffer).

Modern isn't awful, play how you want to play. The damage reduction isn't that big of a deal imo, but it becomes more of a factor the higher you go. (Again, imo) if someone can beat you on modern, and you could magically give them the familiarity of using classic controls, then they could have also beaten you in classic.

MODERN : you cant use all normals, actually you lack a lot, you deal -20% dmg, you dont have some special moves also for all of that you get fast specials and supers and easier but limited combos(-20% still here)
CLASSIC: you got all skills and normal attacks, no dmg debuff but some characters are harder to play in this option
Classic is targeted for much better manual reaction person and more pad, hitbox thing thats all about it i think.

Modern I would say is targeted more for keyboard/not good manually people where reaction might be problematic sometimes or mb for zangief(or similar character) fans since he has not many combos at all and you lose almost nothing and some his inputs might be problematic in classic for some people. It is generally friendly for new players where you can just play and enjoy the game.

Depends on the character. More moves, more damaging combos. However, and it's a big however, for some characters Modern has a massive advantage, and that's on reaction Super Activation. Gief is a perfect example. Using a lv3 on reaction is extremely hard on Classic, but super easy on Modern

Been at it now for a few hours and to me playing with a controller feels horrible.
Half my inputs are just not connecting because i miss a single command, like any down, down right, right command will not trigger if i dont do the down right, because the d-pad is just built that way.
I tried analog as well but i am just too unprecise, doing inputs results oftentimes in me jumping accidentally, which is arguably worse.

Also tried doing the combo tutorial and it just gets worse whenever it wants me to do a input where i have to use blue through red for like the enhanced specials.
It just feels weird using R2 for a heavy move, will probably take a long time to get used to. Keep confusing R1 and R2 for like kicks and punches, its not intuitive as someone who actually plays lots of videogames in general.

I also tried using my keyboard and it was actually the most precise out of all, it doesnt feel good to play but it is working, so i will probably stick with that i think.
Will try again tomorrow after clearing my head a little.

Thanks for the advice so far, i might consider getting an arcade stick if that is supposed to be better, i am past the point of refund after all :P

Will any arcade stick do? Not sure if i can post links but i found one on amazon, like a stick and 8 buttons, would that be enough?
