Character Pass Worth for only Two Fighters?

The only two new characters this year I'll play is Ed, and Possibly Akuma. How does the price breakdown work verses Fighter Coins? it would be nice to have some extra outfits, but is it worth it if I only really care about two out of the four fighters?

But what is better for two fighters? Just getting the Character Pass, or unlocking them with those Fighter Coins? Sometimes the backs they sell don't give you the right amount and you end up spending the same or more.

Each character costs 350 Fighter Coins ($7). So if you only want Ed and Akuma you'd have to drop 700 coins for them. But Capcom doesn't sell the exact amount, but instead sells set pack amounts so you'll need to buy more than 700 coins (3 packs of 250 coins for $6.99 each, or one pack of 610 coins + one pack of 250 coins for $18.98 combined).

You'd essentially be paying a little less than $6 extra to get two more characters if you go the character pass route. And you won't have to bother with the Fighter Coins (you'll end up having leftover coins since Capcom designed it so you'd need to overspend). It's all up to you how you want to spend your money.

Also note that costume 3 for the DLC characters and the two bonus stages only come bundled with the Ultimate Pass, not the regular Character Pass. But that's significantly more expensive.
