Why do people turtle so much? Im not having fun anymore.

The only kind of players I see as i rank up out of platinum and into diamond are people that back up constantly and force you to walk them down. (outside of ken and luke who sometimes still turtle) The game is very boring when everybody is zoning and running constantly. They refuse to even try to get in even taking losses to timing out instead of taking the initiative to push forward. They just want to back up and punish jump ins with dps or only go in when they have pressure from a projectile.

The game has become very stale and im tired of half the cast running with characters that help these tactics. Just played blanka, chun li, Jp, Aki, Lili and guile. 6 turtles back to back that refuse to move forward and only zone and back up. 2 of these matches went to the last few seconds because they make you chase them across the screen and refuse to interact. Follow that with 3 kens back to back that make you guess 50/50s all match and try to react to his plus kick.

Anybody else experiencing this? Am I the only one tired of having to constantly walk people down? The game feels stale and the people I play against play the definition of lame.

Thats because i was placed in diamond right out the gate from my placement matches. I fell to plat 4 and have been working my way back up when i feel like playing ranked. Now are you gonna add something of value or is it all salt and pointing fingers?

Thats exactly what you did. Played casual and claimed Diamond. I guess reading the thread is to much for you. No wonder turtles are getting the best of you. Follow your own advice - walk foward and parry - it got you to Diamond before lol.

I had the most confusing match against a Honda recently. He was labeled as a New Challenger, no rank yet. Just jump backwards at match start. Put himself in the corner. Recently switched to Gief so I'm kind of used to people wanting to stay away. Walked him down, he jabbed me and proceeded to jump backwards again into the corner and just stay there not moving at all. I felt like he was just toying with me so I said ♥♥♥♥ it, don't care if I lose the round. If you don't want to play, I'll just sit here too

It was so bizarre. I don't one and done so I re matched only for them to repeat this same strategy. Granted it worked on me but this play style is so weird. I decided to follow his profile just to see where they were placed.... and found out this person had multiple characters in Diamond!

I thought to myself, you have multiple characters that high, you are a far better player than I. Just walk over and kick my ass I just want to play, if that means getting my ass handed to me, so be it. Win or loss, let's just fight.

Never said it wasn't. I even mentioned it gets me. However, if you're a higher rank than I, chances are you're going to win. I'm a lowly peon compared to that player. He had nothing to be afraid of.

I just don't understand the "I'm just going to wait here for you to do something until the clock runs out." At that point, just put the controller down because I'm doing the same thing

I could just give you my game tag to easily prove what I said was true. Add me and I will if your actually interested in not uselessly pointing fingers about nonsense. I played ranked, dropped into diamond after placements, fell to Plat 4 and stopped playing ranked till I felt better about my confirms and combos. got back into ranked and am 50 points from diamond. I just am not having fun rising through the ranks cause the more I fight diamonds (an masters in casual which you can see if you add me) the more I see people that just want to play what is the definition of lame.

It's not that I have problems against the playstyle, its that it's boring to play against just like zoners are in any fighting game.

i can't remember if there was a fighting game that punished turtles was it Persona 4 arena ultimax or blazblue in general something like do it for to long and your perfect block gauge drains and you also face a 50% damage increase as penalty maybe something like that could be incorporated into SF6 ?

Are you playing casual or battle hub? Try ranked, if you haven't already. It's a great way to get matched with similarly skilled players.

i have tried ranked only problem since im Australian and on Wi-fi it takes almost an entire offline Arcade mode play through just to get one opponent and what is it usually a modern controller Zangife or Cammy rarely do i see another chracter from the roster in iron to bronze to silver rank ....maybe a Ken from time to time

Ah, that's unfortunate. I remember reading a comment some time ago that you may be able to get placed in a different region if you use a VPN? That might be worth looking into, if you can.

Perhaps you could approach the game in a more healthy way?

I can understand that it is boring to you, but, in all honesty, ranking up to Master Rank is a long PvP based tutorial on how to deal with different shenanigans.

For transparency: I am not a strong player, but by mere fundamentals and learning how to deal with the lower rank shenanigans I made it up to Masters in roughly 30 hours of ranked play. There tenthousands of better players, but at Master Rank you fight players who use a decent and fun mix between offense and defense. Maybe that could be a motivation to endure the turtle style that irritates you so much.

If you care about improving, feel free to read my general advice.

1) Expect a lot of empty jumps, so be careful when you press buttons. Just analyze how they behave and use an anti-airs or whatever, but don't just panic press buttons so you don't get punished.
2) Walk them down, don't jump. For instance, Guile players in lower ranks crumble the moment you deny them pure Sonic Boom/Flashkick playstyles.
3) Throw until you get repeatedly tech'd.
4) Shimmy their throw techs.
5) If you don't want to specifically learn theoretical things about other characters, jab spam when under pressure and remember the gaps.
6) When someone spams Drive Impact, start using your faster normals, ideally the ones you can cancel into your own DI. Especially when you are in the corner. So you can either block/parry/counter DI.
7) Practice your strike invincible level 1 to counter Drive Impact attempts when you are being cornered while burnt out. If you cannot control it, just spam level 1 after the first blocked hit while being cornered yourself. Not ideal, but it gets the job done in lower ranks.

Bonus: Just play to beat whatever your opponent heavily relies on. Winning is, in fact, irrelevant per se. It means nothing to be Diamond 1 when a Gold 5 with better fundamentals beats you.
