PowerA Xbox Wired Controller Is An Erractic Mess Playing
My apologies if this has been discussed before, but I can't find any stable solution to my controller issue. I've played other games with my PowerA Xbox wired controller with no issues (Hades 2 as a latest example). The controller is apparently partially supported for Street Figther but Hades 2 is fully supported. My controller randomly will cut in and out while the game is active. I've tried unplugging and re-plugging from the USB slot on my desktop as well as the port on the controller and nothing helps. I've installed the Xbox Accessories app and configured my Xbox Peripherals on Device Manager to include my PowerA controller. I've installed the latest drivers so I'm at a loss. I don't know what to do as I've had a previous PowerA controller work fine on this game last year.

The only thing I can think of is that I have dual monitors now where the Steam app is on my secondary monitor and Street Fighter plays on my primary. When I have controller issues sometimes clicking on the secondary monitor and then clicking back to the primary fixes it. Of course this is temporary. It's very frustrating to have 6-8 matches with no problem and then every match after is a coin toss if the controller will even last 5 seconds before disconnecting. During this frantic disconnection I'm unplugging and re-plugging mid match to see if I can get anything to work usually in vain. Also, if I play with the power cord the controller will randomly turn off but again I don't have any issues with Hades 2.

Are there any other Xbox wired PowerA users that found success keeping your controller alive and active in game? Please let me know! Thank you.

I highly recommend a fight stick for Street Fighter. A controller works fine for NRS fighting games (Mortal Kombat and Injustice), or for playing casually, but for games like SF and Tekken online, the movements need to be very precise, timing windows are not very generous, and combos require more directional inputs than button presses.

If you have to use a controller, the standard XBox Series S/X controller is (very arguably, very subjectively) the best for SF6, as the D-Pad has sections on the diagonals that help with tactile feedback and will help you get better muscle memory on specials.
I appreciate the feedback, it seems keeping the controller might not be the best which sucks. I'd rather try to utilise what I have than buying something to replace it. I'll see if my tolerance lasts but it looks like I know what the answer is now. If anyone else has had this issue before and solved it I would appreciate it but I won't hold my breath.
Ive tried alot of sticks and controllers. Hands down, the absolute best controller ive used is a cheap one, better than the Hori fight commander etc. It's called Betop Thorn. Its a chinese made controller i ordered off ali express. I was kinda skeptical but gave it a shot and the d-pad is amazing. If you want to try a fight pad, give that one a try, really well worth it. Another close one with a really good d-pad is the 8bitDo M30 pad. The Betop has slightly better face buttons though, and both are fairly cheap. Way less than the grossly over priced Victrix and Hori pads which in my experience, performed much worse than either of these two pads.
Is Steam Input turned on for Street FIghter? Try turning it off. I use the PS4 variant with Steam Input and it's worked flawlessly since release.
I play all my fighting games with the PS4 version: no problem.
