Asking for advice in picking the right game.
I know it's probably odd to ask unbiased opinions and pros vs contra when I am asking this specifically on this board, but I have played both demos, watched reviews and comparisons, etc. and I am still undecided.
SF6 or TK8? And where is MK1 in this equation? It seems like it isn't really in the same caliber based on what I am seeing online?

I haven't been into fighting games since Tekken on the PS1 and I have never played a SF game before (or maybe casually at my cousin when I was young, can't even recall), but with both SF6 and TK8 being the best versions of their series in the past decade, it's itching again and seems like the perfect time to jump back into it.

What are the biggest differences between both games?
Which one you think will have the most longevity? I know no one can actually know until both games have been out for months, but just based on how people experience both games.

What are all the different special modes in both games? (Besides the standard training, PvP and PvCPU, etc. modes.)

I have read that SF6 has more "special meters" to keep track of than Tekken 8, while SF6 is more about short combos and Tekken 8 is more about longer combos? From which I conclude then that SF6 has more of an opportunity to come back from getting beat up than in Tekken 8, because in Tekken 8 you can get stuck in an almost 1shot combo? Or are long combos like that also present in SF6?
As a more casual fighter player who prefers a slower but more tactical pace, which one would fit more into that? I'm not the best at this genre, but I do kinda plan on trying to practice getting better at it, which of the 2 has the most room for increasing in skill?
SF6 seems to have as a big complaint that there is Classic vs Modern controls, Tekken 8 only has 1 type of control scheme right? And being someone that would very likely choose Modern controls in SF6, how much am I taking away from myself in terms of "the genuine experience"?

Sorry for long post, thanks in advance.

SF has first barrier that you need to learn doing special moves before try have fun. But SF6 now has modern control which you can skip doing special moves part and jump right on the fun. For tekken 8, you can just pick and having fun right away without any barrier. But Tekken 8 is much harder on learning combo. SF6 combo much shorter and easy to learn compare to Tekken 8.

SF6 has 2 meter gauge you need to pay attention. Drive gauge and super gauge that you need to keep an eye. While on Tekken 8, you don't need to pay any attention except your health bar.

For easier to decide, both of them have a demo. So I suggest go play them and get the feel which one is suit for you

Which one do you want to play? Literally no other answer matters.

This feels like a false premise just to talk about the games. Bait of sorts, at least the framing device.

I liked both in their own unique ways based on the Demo and I am not planning on dropping money on both (not right now anyway) + the demo only demonstrates the very basic of the combat system and doesn't give you a good idea yet of it's potential longevity, not so much anything else.
Hence I am asking here to help me decide which route to go.

Longevity doesn't matter here, it's SF and Tekken. The game will outlast your interest.

Pick the one that looks more fun to you.

So the biggest thing that's currently making me indecisive is this:
I do not really enjoy having to keep track of several gauges in a fighting game, I prefer the straightforwardness of TK8 in that regard, but I do like the aesthetic, graphical style, etc. of SF6 more than TK8.
That's where I am stuck.

Street Fighter 6 and Tekken each have their own unique vibe, so picking one is totally your call. They're different in style and gameplay, so it really boils down to what you're into.

I'm a big fan of Street Fighter 6 – the awesome roster and the really fun combat system are top-notch. But when it comes to choosing between SF and Tekken, it's totally a personal thing. Your call!

Ok so you've got your answer. What is a third party opinion going to do here?

You'll never want to "keep track of several gauges", easy constraint, easy answer.

Unless you buy video games to just look at and not play.

All of your general questions can be answered with a simple google search. Buy the game you gravitate most towards to. If you are indifferent then buy the cheaper option.

3d and 2d fighters are so different from each other that you should have a good idea which one you enjoy more. Neither of them have complicated systems to the point you wont learn that part quickly. Pick the one your gut is telling you, you will enjoy more. Either because of graphic style or a charactor that catches your eye.

Get Tekken 8,

Get Street Fighter 6 on Discount,

(World Tour is a Unique Mode you begin to meet different Masters like Ryu, Ken etc. with their own style and they take you under their wing and you do missions for them to learn more moves, bear with it, you create your own character with select a Style and it allows you to equipped certain moves from every Master to easier button combinations to mix and match moves, it's super handy they have a 'modern controls and classical controls' i play modern obviously because i have a life.) But Ive played SF6 16 hours so far and i want to play more.

Dont get Mortal Kombat 1

It's Story focused but the Story starts good and then they ruin it with a generic ♥♥♥♥♥ Multiverse Multi Timeline oversaturated nonesense that completely ruined the Original story i played it for like 9hrs the story left a bad taste in my mouth and i left a bad review stopped didn't want to play more. They also Copy Tekken *too much* which means you may aswell just get Tekken 8 because it's a Better Tekken than MK1.

As a big fan of Street Fighter, since the arcade days, I speak with all the conviction of a player who practically lived and played "ALL" Street Fighters.

"DO NOT BUY THIS GAME."

This SF6 is nothing more than a Woke and Cash Grab game. Extremely mischaracterized characters to suit the Woke culture, a lot of woke culture in the World Tour and gender policy messages, Shop and cash with items that practically add up to the price of the base game, Few playable characters, and those that come in DLC are very expensive making you pay even more for what was already paid in the base game and very bad gameplay, full of terrible mechanics such as "Drive Impact", Combos made by 01 button in Modern mode unbalancing the game, there is no punishment mechanic for players who just run away and don't engage in the fight, doing the famous "Turtling" among other annoyances of this game.
This SF6 was the worst SF I've ever played in my entire life, it seems like it was just created to promote Woke culture and earn something from Black Rock, "DON'T BUY", go to Tekken 8 which is much better.

Note: Mk1 is same shame game, skip it!

SF starts out simple and gets complicated as you go up in ranks. Limited move sets & special attacks that defines the character but has resource management(Drive gauge, Super Art guage) & also execution heavy when compared to Tekken.

Tekken is grounded, neutral heavy & complex out of the box. 100+ different moves per character, but learning the core 10-15ish moves will carry you for the most part as a beginner. Luckily, most of the character's match up knowledge & strings carries on to the next sequel so what ever hours you invest into is well worth it.

Competitive wise, might varies depending on the region, but both have been relevant till end of their service.

Oh god, you're one of those people.
You just convinced me to get SF6, I love woke stuff, I am a 100% wokester.

Rolling my eyes so hard, if only you had actually told me about the gameplay flaws I would have taken note of it, now it just seems like biased stuff because you think the game is woke.

Do what you want, money is yours. You asked, i answered, thats all. Like Woke? This is your game then, glad to help, mark it as answer, let moderation lock the topic and move on, buy the game and go play your Woke game happy.

I like how easy street fighter has been to get into for someone who just started getting into fighting games. I like when you're learning combos in training, they'll show you how it's preformed with a short video so you can see when to combo each move. I'm also looking at MK1, but MK1 has no cross play yet, but as I'm aware it's getting cross play next month. Since I know people who play on console.
