fireball keeps turning into DP
I cant seem to get Ryu's Cr.MK > Fireball consistently. Sometimes I end up Cr.MK > DP. I tried doing a microwalk backwards before throwing fireball so its a half circle fwd to get around the Z motion. Is this best practice? What am I doing wrong?

You pretty much have to do a whole half circle sometimes to cancel out the forward you had from walking or whatever else.

okay so its not just me, you need to halfcircle it sometimes.

If you recently pressed forward before doing a fireball, the game's lenient input buffer will interpret that as a DP motion because forward, down, down-forward, forward overlaps with forward, down, down-forward. As others have said, in these situations try to input the Hadoken as a half-circle instead of a quarter circle. You will never get DP that way.

Exactly! Even professional players not infrequently make mistakes because of this and use DP instead of fireball.

what's a good work around for 2+p > 623+p? I keep getting hadoukens, which isn't intentional, and I can't not have it happen.

I think you just have to practice and clean up your inputs more. Back in SFV when I did 2HP into 623HP, the game would give me 236236P (Ryu's Shinku Hadoken), because my inputs weren't super clean and the game's lenient input window interpreted my inputs as "close enough" to Shinku Hadoken. So what I did was I made sure to input it the Shoryuken exactly as forward, down, down-forward and not to go to forward after down-forward.

ya im just gonna do halfcircle for fireball from now on. its effectively a half-circle fwd motion for consistency sake.

Enter the DP as 323.

Press back and then hadoken if you are walking foward.

I get dp off of back hadouken sometimes, because my stick pressed forward when I let go. So it goes 214 n 6 and if I jab on the 6 I dp. It is pretty silly, and I can easily replicate it so well that my new dp is just 2146 easy.

If your stick snaps into the opposite cardinal direction when you let go of it, you can install a stronger spring. This should get rid of the problem, if you consider it one.

I might do that, I assume it is fairly simple so yeah.

I try to remember to hold the diagonal for a dp and release the forward for a quarter circle before tapping my action button and that seems to help but I'm on a hit box style layout.

The half circle isn't strictly necessary it's just one of the more reliable/easy ways to delay your inputs long enough for the forward to clear the buffer.

You could also tap down and then go into the QC, hit back and just go into a normal QC. The constant is throwing in a burner input that isn't a F or DF. It happens in other fighting games too, but for whatever reason it seems SF6 holds the F longer than other games.

I saw some cammy player input the half circle for spiral arrow too
