Tekken Player here, should I buy this game?

I've been mostly a 3d fighter guy, but I've always had a soft spot for street fighter's aesthetics. I have very little experience with 1v1 2d fighters but am considering picking this game up. Will I have trouble understanding mechanics as a tekken player? (Also I am concerned about the 70% positive recent reviews what's with that?)

Yeah give the demo a shot and see how it feels. 2D FGs are extremely different from 3D but I think it's easier to transition from 3D to 2D than vise versa

And the 70% positive recent reviews is related to the Engima DRM being added to older Capcom titles on Steam. But SF6 doesn't have Enigma, it (unfortunately) has Denuvo

Yeah, I was surprised too, but it's a nice thing to see demos make a comeback in the industry

You're a Tekken player? I'v heard whispers that Tekken 8 just dropped, why do you wanna play street fighter 6 now lol? Reviews are because of recent change to DRM, beside the performances being a bit affected by it, it doesn't affect me. It mostly bothers the basement gooners that can't have their Chun-Li nude mod anymore.

Edit: As much as I love Street Fighter 6 and really enjoy playing it, I don't know if I can entirely recommend it rn. The game has been a bit left out lately and we are all waiting for a balance update to the mechanics and new characters. The roster is small and the monetization leaves alot to be desired if you want to buy alot of costumes. Also Capcom keeps pushing avatar updates and the community is fed up with it, SF6 twitter posts are on fire everytime they post lmao. But the game's visuals and gameplay is alot more pleasing to me than the Tekken franchise, so I put up with it.

The mechanic you need to get used for 2D fighter are the barrier on inputting all the special moves and opponent jumping. Everything else can be adapt from your experience playing 3D fighter such as punished on whiff or blocked

nothing changed in the mod scene. Mods still work.

I for one am not waiting for any balance changes, I'm not a fan of having to relearn parts of the game every 3-4 months (ie. "Oh that move's plus on block now" or "Yeah X doesn't combo into Y any more") so personally I am all in favour of annual balance patches, or only when it's desperately needed and again, with 4% between the highest and lowest winrates in almost all ranks, a balance patch isn't desperately needed at present.

I don't really want a balance patch for the characters, I don't mind them, I'm not the one that cries about Ken, JP, etc.. I'd like a balance patch for the drive mechanic, I do feel like perfect parry and drive rush needs tuning.

Oh yeah I'm playing Tekken 8, but I was intending to pick up SF6 when it's on sale. By then, my hype for tekken 8 will probably slow down and I'll be playing other games (such as SF6)

World Tour is a great concept, i just think it needs to be done better (Metro City is good size but the other countries are actually just a tiny space for a character) and then Tekken is like the Golden Guilded Red carpet of fighting games, you get actual stories going on and get you attached to the players, Street fighters 'Story mode' has a 5 or 12 fight option and then zilch.

I love Capcoms aesthetic style it's unique and gives it a standing out from the rest but i made a post rightfully trashing some newer designs as well as some of their characters/NPC's in and out of world tour looking lack luster & oddly deformed because their new generations of devs probably 'dont get' the golden spot of the Capcom aethestic and wanna do the whole mental asylum look, Chun Li used to be Hot af now looks like a Semi - Grandma etc. you get it.
