game pads with extra back buttons to execute custom commands?
I have the the dual sense edge and was playing around with editing the layout of the extra back buttons.

On cammy, I found I could do her specials by just pressing a direction + back button(executes 2 custom commands). I was also able to customize it so I could do parry drive rush with just pressing one of the back buttons.

I even managed to make a layout where If I press the first back button followed by the second one, zangief executes an spd.

Full damage of course since the game reads it as you doing the motions manually. The only problem I have with this is it seems very inconsistent and the correct timing to press and release the back buttons vary. I say press and release because the first command executes on button press and the second on button release.

for those of you that have pads with extra back buttons, Have you found a reliable way to customize them and use them more reliably?

Keep in mind for each command with a sub command, you can only execute 2 dpad direction at once. they directions can not be opposite of each other if within the first command, and using 2 motion directions within one command will execute the motion direction in between both. I.E.. First command is down and sub command is Left, The button will execute only the down-left direction not down and left or down then down-left then left.

If you execute 2 commands for one back button it is possible for the first command on press to execute down-left and the second one on release to executes left + attack button; you can simply press down + back button to do a hadouken for example.

For parry drive rush I used d pad right for the first command on button press. on button release for the second command I did dpad right again and included parry for the 2nd commands sub command. Parry drive rush was successful with just pressing and releasing one back button.

Didn't manage to figure out how to enter diagonal directions and gave up. Busy enough getting into SF with this game, after being a VERY casual Tekken/MK player for decades, so maybe it's a good thing I have to learn to use the stick like on one of those arcade controllers... ^^

you need to go into big picture mode - click on street fighter - click on the controller icon to the right - go to to layout and click on it - download the right layout for your controller - apply it - go to edit layout - scroll to the your back buttons and click on add command - select a directional input i.e. dpad right - it ill take you back to the screen where it previously said add command - to the right of it and click the wheel icon for settings - click on button press then select start press - go back to command 1 settings and click on add extra command - you will see command 2 - click on add command - select d pad right again - go to the settings next to the second dpad right - click on button press and select on release - again go back to the second dpad right command settings and click on add sub command - on the sub command add the parry button. once this is done start up the game from big picture view - go to training - make sure you are on player one side because we programmed it for right direction parry drive rush - press and release the back button you set the custom commands to - you will successfully parry drive rush

what commands do you use to execute the quarter circle? That requires 3 commands to execute, right? i.e down, down+forward, forward. what settings and commands allowed you to execute it? i've been trying but I do not know how to implement the last direction.

Yea, I use command down, down+forward, forward and down, down+forward, forward. But I actually using 8bitdo controller which it has its own software custom command layout. Perhaps maybe somewhat it is different from dual sense edge

What are your steam inputs? i.e https://ibb.co/PjXQRxY

I don't understand how that is executed. only a singal cardinal direction can be used on a regular press

I actually didn't touch or configure anything from steam input. I only use 8bitdo software for configuration command. When booting the steam, it already can be used without needed me to configure anything on steam input. Sorry if I can't help that much

For Anyone else wondering I found out how to do a quarter circle motion with steam layout editing.

I.E. to do a quarter circle by pressing R3

EDIT:

NVM This Is apparently frowned upon in online matches

1st command dpad down, button press = start press, fire start delay = 0, fire end delay = 15

2nd command dpad left/right, button press = start press, fire start delay = 15, fire end delay = 30
rofl this is called a macro and it's not something that's going to get you banned but it's something that's 100% not allowed in a tournament setting and if you're using this against other players it's kind of lightly cheating

I think the way forward is for street fighter to include optional macros in settings with an 80% damage penalty on them. I know in modern control button mapping the game allows for a macro of it's own. This would be the Super input (special + heavy button) to be bound to a single button i.e. L3

Maybe but at this point you're redesigning a completely different game.
