Whats with the player counts going up and down recently
I'm interested in the game and plan on buying it soon but i saw the player counts on steam charts bouncing from around 5k players to 20k players every day, and i understand that there's probably more people on the other side of the world that play this game but this trend seams to have happen suddenly last month. Is there some issue with the servers or did everyone decided to stop playing at the same time every day.

It's 3am, people have to sleep and work. It has crossplay with consoles anyway, you'll always get matches no matter the time.

It's 11am almost, I'm at work. I stopped until there's a new pass and hopefully Ed comes out too. I'll play a session with friends if they're in a mood, but at the moment I'd rather be playing other stuff.

i understand that its late and people get off but I was just curious why the steam player count started rising and dropping at Friday November 24 at 16:00 because before that date it was flat and stable with no large deviations from ~20k players. but thank you for telling me it has cross-play

It still has daily peaks far greater than SFV's all time peak, and you could still find matches there no problem until this came out, don't you worry~

And if you look around Steamcharts a little, you'll find that SF6 is far from the only game with populations more than tripling between the daily lows and the highs.

So it's kind of a mix of things.

1. The Microtransactions suck extra badly
2. We're in a bit of a content drought waiting for Ed, the next DLC fighter
3. Every has had their Fix of World Tour mode

I've been seeing this for several months, since summer probably. I believe the reason for this is that steam is a multi-reagional platform and some regions sold significantly better than others. As a result, the game has the highest numbers when it's evening in the most successful regions, like America. The numbers don't make sense to me, for instance. I live in Ukraine and the game has 20k when it's 12pm-01pm and falls to 6k when I return from work at 6-7pm.

The majority of ppl are on console. There is a guy who's info was on reddit and in pro news spaces showing there was at lest 500k ppl playing ranked this month. Steam numbers for certain games are absurdly low but it does have cross play...so you are fine.

And then people refuse to believe me when I say that Steam isn't the majority platform for fighting games.

Did OP forget that people sleep?

Your concerning on the longevity of a street fighter game... and looking on steam charts for validation? lol Now that's really funny.

And again, even games as big as Dota 2 have these huge differences between highest and lowest player counts in a day, it's just a natural effect when there's one region where the game is less popular than the others, this phenomenon is by no stretch unique to SF6.

as it seams you are illiterate and unable to read i have drawn a picture for you.

as you can see this is my main question, why did the Steam player counts start to drastically fluctuate seemingly over night. i understand that people go to sleep and i have stated that before in this discussions.
