You are allowing them to jump over you?
And yes it is a strategy, and has been since SF 2, where is was even more effective.
If you are playing Gief I can almost understand, but damn near every other character in the cast can shut that ♥♥♥♥ down easily.
Ballsless but badass.
jump up, jump up, jump back, dash, jump up, jump forward kick, jump up, throw, crouch, crouch, crouch, jump up.
Floor is lava Ryu is my favorite Ryu.
Ok, hold on.
Are they spamming hadokens (and thus being very predictable, thus easily countered), or are they turtling (ie playing carefully and defensibly) and then suddenly taking a huge risk by jumping over you (which you keep missing the anti-airs for?)
Which one is it? If they're spamming hadokens then they're not turtling. They're giving you projectiles to freely parry and then bait into a drive impact. If you're jumping into the shorukens, YOU are the one falling for the bait.
And as for them always managing a jump crossup whenever you approach and you can't stop them even if you know it's coming because they keep doing it...
Unless you're playing Marisa or someone else with absolute garbage for anti-airs, how is that always happening to you, enough that you complain?
Like... I can understand being salty about an enemy strategy that annoys you (I hate fighting Cammy with Marisa. Cammy's block strings are annoying and I keep getting put into 50-50 guess setups where if I guess wrong I get comboed to hell and back), and wanting advice on how to overcome it.
It's another thing to take that salt and turn it into wishing your opponents were dead. That right there isn't healthy.
And again, if you're a Diamond Rank player (and thus better at the game than me) why do you keep jumping over Hadokens and into Shoryu range? You're the one falling for obvious bait! Just stop jumping over the Hadokens and into Shoryu range! Drive impact the hadoken instead!
No, seriously. This basic Ryu strategy has existed since SF2. If it was such a huge problem, it would've been addressed 20 years ago, or 10 years ago, but it wasn't, because its easy af to bypass. Just git gud. It sounds harsh but that really is what you have to do.
Not only that but at a certain range throwing a hadoken is giving your opponent the go ahead to just DI you into oblivion.
It's ridiculous that people still complain about ♥♥♥♥ like this despite the fact there are now more options to deal with this than ever. I would love to see how some of these players would handle fireball spam in Super Turbo where the counter play was far more limited.
I think it was super turbo. It was terrifying to behold.
Edit I think this might have been the match in question

If a person wants to win but doesn't want to learn anything, Ryu is the perfect character for that person!
Just look at Ryu as a character for beginners. Once a person learns something in the game, they move on to a real character and never go back to Ryu again. After all, if he likes fireballs, why doesn't he play as JP? Because this character has complex combinations and more than one kind of fireballs (too complicated for Ryu players).
You mean JP's make a wish combo system? 😂
