That said, most of these controllers have eight face buttons minimum so you'd only lose out on one of the instant parry, grab, or DI macros. Or you could pull a Daigo and have a custom one built with another button on the side for another macro. But I'd first invest in a more affordable one to find out if you even enjoy playing leverless.
If you're not afraid of a little electrical engineering there are also sites that basically sell you all the parts in a bag and you just need to assemble it yourself to further cut costs.
button spacing/general ergonomics, the lack of extraneous buttons, and SOCD cleaning being required for competitive play, but a fancy word for key ghosting on keyboard.
Easier to carry and use if you travel for tournaments and don't have to worry about converters via being able to custom make a hitbox, bigger buttons and can be ergonomic with the space,
If budget is a problem a keyboard can be fine but I feel it's more suited to smaller hands.
I made the change to leverless exactly because of the same reason as you, thumb pain after decades of playing FGs with a D-pad.
I got a Razer Kitsune Chun-Li Edition, and even tho I still need to get used to it, I "feel" the responsiveness already so yea, I def recommend you to use a leverless if you are thinking about it.
Best regards.
Granted they're much smaller. But a hitbox is 2-4x as expensive.
Razor one while better build quality but it has way less button than opposition and is way overpriced.
the hitbox, junkoof and all others have a supply problem! the snackbox micro is awesome if you can get it. but the kitsune is in stock and has 2 custom sf artwork
Pads just hurt my fingers and thumbs.
I’ve always been a fan of Hori sticks, I have a few of them. Always pay for a good one, one with sanwa or hayabusa parts, never buy a cheap one
Never fancied lever less controllers, a controller that is all buttons just feels weird to me. I can’t even imagine how long it must take to adapt to that. Also bare in mind a hit box doesn’t position the movements buttons in the same way as a keyboard would so you’d still need a lot of adaption
Nothing beats the feeling of a good stick in your hand, yeah I know how that sounds
The best controller I've ever used came from Eternal Rival, and I'll shill for him all day. He was very accomodating, and he was willing to make changes for me that were absolutely not standard.
