Bonus streaks in plat wouldn't solve anything because then it would concentrate the player base into diamond 1 rather than plat 1, and create the same issues plus more. If you're losing way more than you're winning in plat, you'll probably fall down to the gold 5/plat 1 boundary which is where you would belong anyways since the winstreaks in gold will boost you to plat, but then losing will bump you back down to gold and the cycle continues. The only people that are able to climb out of plat are the ones with a consistent 50% winrate
Yesterday afternoon, I started playing ranked at 1517 LP, and ended my ranked session with the exact same number.
Although, not long ago I was at 13** LP, so there is *some* progress...
Platinum 2 months ago, is not the same league as it is now.
I guess I'll probably drop Ranked and just play on battle hub until Capcom figure this out, but I fear that by then most casuals like myself will have dropped the game.
It's only going to get worse, streak bonuses are what actually created this problem. The casuals you referenced have already dropped the game, or never really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ with ranked to begin with.
Ranks are hyper inflated, and are likely starting to go through some form of normalization. The only thing that can fix this would be a hard reset and removal of streak bonuses starting in Silver.
TL:DR Free lunches are going to become increasingly rare in this game as the aggregate skill floor rises, and casuals leave the game.
It's worth noting that your physical reflexes peak in your early to mid twenties. A lot of pros are past their physical peak, but still have cracked "reactions" largely as result of muscle memory and efficiencies gained in thought processing via experience and practice.
Plus the ranking system doesn't do any favours, either. Always assume you're playing against a smurf.
How so? I mean, the only thing streak bonus do is take the players that clearly do not belong on that rank and bump them up faster, so they don't keep ruinning everyone else's experience. I see no reason why Capcom removed it after Gold. The longer better players stay in the wrong ranks, more people will drop the game for having a frustrating experience.
The USF4 system of matching through PP (Player Points) made so much more sense.
You seem miss the point. "Getting good" doesn't mean more wins. It just gonna make me win enough to rank up and lose for different reasons, like instead of losing for dropping a combo I'll lose for not perfect parrying 30 times per set like Kakeru X AngryBird.
The winning rate should still be around 50% forever, regardless of the skill level. Ranks are not "placement" but "weight class". This is what makes the game fun and what the ranking system should be doing.
