Can I play without learning combos?
I hate the learning process of fighting games, makes a complete disparity in skill, and makes it feel like a chore.

I only do 3 hit combos for guile and ryu and im in diamond 5 rank :steammocking:
That's what modern controls are for, so yes, you can play without having to learn combos 😊
You can, but combos are probably the easiest learning aspect of fighting games, there is a LOT of other things to learn.

You dont have to learn any of it tho if you're happy to just stay playing in low ranks.
You can but you wont get far.

Those other things are possible to learn naturally though, combos you just gotta practice and memorize. (And by combos I don't mean special moves, I mean juggling and stuff)
Learning in any game is required. It's not a game otherwise.
honestly why even play if that's the mindset you have when it comes to fighting games
"I want to be good at something without learning it." I dunno, maybe become a waiter or work at McDonald`s, maybe become a gambling addict or homeless. The options are endless for you.
yes, modern controls let you do auto combos. hold RT(R2) and press Square(X), X(A) or Circle(B) three times and it does an auto combo. Triangle(Y) is used for throwing special moves like Hadouken.
You can, but don't expect to last long in matches.
You can play with modern controls and exclusively use autocombos. You'll eventually hit a wall when things like optimizing what you get out of hitting people becomes important, but if you're just playing for fun and not necessarily looking to get good at the game, it'll work just fine.
If you don't like learning, then why are you playing fighting games? The entire genre's all about learning, whether its your character, their matchups or just game specific tech in general. The whole point of fighting games is self improvement, and that only comes through learning and practice.

I started playing with modern Honda because of auto combos.
Then I switched to classic Zangief because he has almost no combos and I got ranked slightly higher with him than with Honda.

The game can be as simple as you want. If you play ranked matches then the game will try to find you players at a similar skill level. Learning combos is not mandatory. Many people don’t do any.
Use modern controls. They're there to remove the steep learning curve for the game. With it, you can immediately hop into a match and still have some form of idea on how to control your character which is awesome.
You absolutely can, as long as you're 100% okay with not being anything near competitive.

But honestly it just sounds like fighting games aren't for you.
