I've blocked a LOT of players...
I'm not going to give the number, just yet. But it's a lot. More so than I've EVER done, in my entire 45+ year Video game career. (how did we block players back in the 80s and 90s? Well, when we went to the Arcades, we paid close attention to who was playing, and if there was a player we were "blocking", we would wait until they left, or on some extremes, we would just lose our quarter and just walk away, if he challenged us. Or keep track of when they would typically show up. Or, just avoid the place altogether, sometimes. The point was to avoid that player at all costs.)

This time around, I've been blocking players for multitude of reasons. Ranging from: Blocking every Ken-Modern player, right off the bat. Blocking spammy players, with spammy characters, like Jaime, Marisa, or Kimberly. Blocking because they are WAY too skilled for whatever rank we were playing at - leading me to believe they were a much higher rank before, or they lose on purpose every now and then to lower their ranks? I dunno. Because I hate their play style, especially with the cheap characters. And overall, just blocking them because I just don't wish to play them ever again - I don't want to put myself through the emotional turmoil, and heartache that they put me through, even if I were to "get better".

How are you guys handling this? Are you also blocking a bunch of players? Or do you go the opposite route? Or do you contact them and tell them off? What seems to be the new normal, nowadays?

-R.

I only blocked a guy who I'm sure was in the wrong server, somehow he made 2 bar USF4 match look smooth. I don't block people otherwise.

If they whooped my ass, I need to get better.
If they're getting me with same tactics, I need to adapt.
If they're modern, I need to overcome.

I block people who dont run it back win or lose because majority of the time they're just gonna keep playing the game after, meaning they're bums who're satisfied with flowcharting :D

Facts. Nothing makes me more upset when I'm playing a ranked match, my opponent and I go 1/1 rounds and then decline a rematch...

Skill issue and you sound insufferable as a person. I recommend hitting the gym, eating healthier and laying off the fap sessions

I haven't blocked anyone in a fighting game ever. It just seems counter productive.

At the arcades I used to haunt there would always be 1 or 2 killlers just holding down the cabinet for hours. I don't even want to think about how much money I blew grinding it out, but after months getting smacked around I started to become a killer capable of holding the cabinet down for hours.

I don't play these games to be comfortable, or to subscribe to some arbitrary code of honor. I play to learn, the more I learn the better I get, the better I get the more I win. That's the beauty of fighting games.

Im with ya dude, I block a lot of people, so many I have to clear the block list every now and then to continue blocking. I block any Modern player, not a chance. I also block every JP and Ken I come across. I simply dont care to fight these OP, busted, crutch ass characters. I also block anyone who seems toxic. Again I dont care to get better nor am I here to make friends, Ive got them already. Im here to chill and beat up on who I can before I goto bed.

I block most wi-fi players if there is even a hint of connection problems.

Sometimes I block players in ranked who I keep meeting repeatedly in ranked to get some variety, but those I always unblock after the session.

Ah yes, I remember you from back then. You were the sad little child in the corner sulking over how you lost. We were laughing at you then and we're laughing at you now. It's just incredibly sad that you never grew up.

Blocking is a waste of time and mental resources unless the connection is unplayable, they rage quit, and/or they're being deliberately toxic towards you.

I block all JP and Guile players, winning or losing, just because they are extremely boring to play against.
