V-Sync ON or OFF?
Let's have some actual topic about the game. So, I got a BenQ monitor, which is focused for competitive play. Should I have V-Sync enabled or not?

Do you experience screen tearing? Turn V-Sync on. Some people get screen tearing when V-sync is disabled, so that should be the only reason you use it or not.

Vsync can add input delay, so if you're not getting screen tearing turn it off.

if your monitor support adaptive sync technologies like FreeSync or G-Sync then you should always turn it off

Vsync adds input delay, free sync and g sync do not.

depending on how serious a player you are you might want to turn off vsync and accept screen tears just to get your inputs as tight as possible

note: some monitors will need to enable FreeSync/G-Sync in settings, they may not be on by default

As another note DO AN INPUT TEST before you determine if there is any delay. Most of the time, there is not, but it can vary from system to system. ALWAYS test your own hardware. Listening to others may not give you the most accurate results.

Thank you for the inputs, everyone. My monitor says it's 1 ms and focused for competitive play. I will do what KungFu suggested. I'm determined to playing SF 6 with a more solid mindset that I did in SF 5, so def going fairly serious.

I wouldn't mind screen tearing. If I find out I played SF 5 with the wrong settings all this time, I'm gonna be disappointed hahahah

if you have a freesync or gsync monitor you don't need vsync, it can increase input lag so turn it off

If you have some kind of variable sync i.e g-sync

1. Turn v-sync off in game
2. Turn v-sync on in GPU panel
3. Turn on low latency mode in game

If you don't and don't mind tearing
1. Turn v-sync off in game
2. Turn on low latency mode in game

unfortunately you don't have free sync or G-sync

so you are gonna have to choose between higher input delay or screen tears

or you can shell out $120 for a similar monitor to yours with freesync

Thank you very much for taking the time to research all that, Gailim! I will have to go with screen tears, then. I'm going to test what the input delays feel like as well just to get some more knowledge.

I can totally get the one you mentioned after some months. I got this monitor I'm using back in 2016 or 2017. Thank you again, peace (:
Just use V-Sync off if you're really into competitive match.

Always test your equipment. Never listen to randos on the net.

Vsync does not always add input delay. Test it.
Higher refresh rates make the lag less noticeable, but it's there. It always adds frames of display lag. It feels like input lag, but input lag is its own thing. Some people are more sensitive to lag than others. Same goes with frame rates. Some people can't tell 30 FPS from 60, while some can.

If you're ultra-competitive, you want every frame you can get. I would recommend gsync or freesync without vsync as the best trade-off when playing a 60 FPS game at any refresh rate higher than 60 Hz. Having all those things turned off is still the most responsive, at the cost of screen tearing.
