Is there a way to spoof an ethernet connection while actually using wifi?
See title.

There is, buy an ethernet cable and connect it to your pc.

Even if you did, 5 seconds into the match they'll notice your wifi-levels of lag and disconnect, so don't bother.

No one is actually choosing not to play with wifi players JUST for being on wifi.

If you show up as 4 Bars or greater you will at least get one match in, if that one match is bad then that player is dipping no shot.

Has anyone had a 4+ connection with a wifi player that was bad? They've all been good for me so far. I just filter 4+ and accept all.

They should honestly have gotten rid of the different icons, and I say this as someone with a wired connection.

To OP, they make wifi receivers that go out to an ethernet connection. They're like 20-40 bucks plus a few for the cable.

Don't know if they're any good though. They might actually make your connection worse but at least you'd get your icon.

I can see it getting old fast if it's happening often.

Just bridge your ethernet adapter to your wifi adapter and then use the resulting network bridge as your connection point. The game and anything else will see it as a wired connection.

The core issue with wifi on fighting games isn't connection quality as much as it is packet loss, but modern chips and quality routers that you are close to and not on the opposite side of a house through 6 walls have little to no packet issues. While I think the culture of angrily declining every player on wifi because of the stigma of lag and unstable connections which hasn't been common for years is dumb, packet loss can and DOES happen and it can negatively impact a match if it happens too much, so be courteous and if you do this, make sure you've optimized your home network as best you can first to make absolutely sure it doesn't become an issue.

Yes, people are, for good reason. WiFi packet loss is hugely detrimental to the experience of these games. Casual, sure, but I'm not playing against WiFi on Ranked. I filter for 4-5 and still get issues playing with WiFi opponents.
