Scripted Fights in World Tour - How Do They Work?
Playing many RPGs with random encounters, I'm used to seeing fights where it's obvious you're not meant to win a fight as part of the story. This is usually obvious when the enemy either has a tremendous amount of health and or could kill you off in a few hits.

Is that in this game in World Tour? It's hard to tell. The first fight with Luke with Basch at your side it was obvious you were not meant to win. But then it gets confusing when you randomly talk to masters who ask you to spar, because if you lose, you don't get the chance to fight them again. The second spar I had with Luke (in his gym) I won, (only because I healed....once...)and I got some bonus items, so I thought "oh ok, so these fights are one offs but if I can do it I get stuff."

But I fought Jamie just now. I wanted to see what would happen if I won the fight, It seemed like a challenging but doable fight, until about halfway through he did some kind of transformation and was able to take half or 3/4's of my health in two hits....from full life. I had to use about 4 or 5 healing items, and when I won I got....nothing. Not even a "I can't believe you won," out of him or whatever.

So for these one off fights, is it even worth abusing healing items to try and get whatever drops, or are those reserved for master fights only?

So far I don't think I've faced a fight that was impossible to win. The ones where it's meant for you to lose, you can still win if you try hard enough, but in my experience it still plays the same cutscenes as if you lost.
