Classic controls on in option settings but doing absolutely nothing in world tour

I followed a guide and switched to classic mode in options, but I literally am stuck on modern controls and idk what to do

it lets you change the WT controls for real after the fight with luke (chapter 2, like 5 mins into WT mode)

Get yourself on Battle Hub, and press "X" (or the equivalent of the controller u are using). Then go to the characters and choose the one you selected for playing. Press "Y" (or the equivalent of the controller u are using) and there you wil find an option to change the control modes. Yes, it should work on the option menu but it doesn't. If you are on casual/ranked on Battle Hub you have to change it on it's own menu.

If this World Tour, you have to reach chapter 2 to be in Classic Mode. I tried everything to change Modern controls. When I reached chapter it magically changed to Classic.

I'm trying this, but my character is not showing.
