I really enjoyed SFV and I can appreciate that this is a different take on the franchise, not an evolution or improvement.
Oh and my fave fighting game is still Injustice 2, which I would be playing now, if it wasn't a ghost town online.
The inputs are easy and you can get simple combos right away. So you can have fun right away.
In SF6 you need to lab for a bit before you can have fun.
Modern layout tries to make the game more accessible like T7, but all it does is create confusion and dividing the player-base.
Blame the new Mortal Kombat movie for being so successful on HBO Max.
WB, the parent company, didn't understand how profitable MK could truly be until they saw those HBO Max numbers and then pushed Neatherrealm into a new MK game. It's why we also got two animated movie sequels to Scorpion's Revenge so quickly as well.
WB is all in on building up MK as a bigger franchise now, which is funny considering WB has owned MK since MK9 but it wasn't until the new movie where they were all of a sudden like "Wow, we can really capitalize off this MK thing. A lot of people really seem to like it."
Based on a tweet Ed Boon put out he made it sound like MK wasn't the only game Neatherreaalm is currently working on however I don't think that other game is Injustice 3.
