Can't use classic controls online

I have it set to classic in the main menu yet when i play online it keeps changing it to modern. I can't find where to change it for online play. I can't play using these handicap modern controls

Edit: I found it, you have to change it per character. Ridiculous

I had to do it from the battle menu like OP. Main menu didn't work for online fights.

when you are in the battle hub, you have to press x or a to change character, on that screen you need to press triangle or y to change control settings, don't forget to apply for all characters otherwise you need to do it again when changing character.

I'm sorry, I expressed myself badly. I meant that once you change them they remain by default. I don't know if there is an option to change them all at once.

You can change it all at once, when you go to where you change it by character (in the profile, If I recall) at the bottom left it will tell you what button/key to hit to apply all, I think for me it was Y.

yeah the game defaults multiplayer to LUKE & "M" mode;
you hit start goto Game settings, chage your character, while on that screen
hit " Y " (Triangle on PS4/5 controller) and look for the additional settings...

unfortunately the GAMEPLAY Control Settings only apply to the Fighting-Mode, not Battle HUB, kinda a huge oversight.

not to be overly critical of the game, but when ever i see basic features botched/missing
i blame the fact that they are fixated on other things within the game, (Messaging) and not the game itself. ;3

I have question to. The controllers in tuorials are different in online battles. How to remap the keyboard?

I am unsure about that. I am using a PS5 dualsense to play so i haven't had to remap anything so far

You can put CLassic controls for EVERYTHING by default from the option menu.

I have only 3 buttons to fight with L,M and H. I want the classic 6 buttons layout as in the turotial, i cant find anywhere to map this. Also the IK and the OL moves i dont know how to do them in game cos controlls are messed up.

Help are appreciated.

If you’re talking about in World Tour, then you have to wait til chapter 2 to be able to do it. If you’re trying to do it in battle hub then like others have pointed out, you want to go into the settings to change your character and there’s an option there to change the control type per character or press Y/triangle to apply to all characters.

the menus in this game are pretty awful, imo. i've had to look up or go really digging to figure out how to change just about anything

Yeah, this got me too. What's the point of choosing the classic controls in the settings if you still have to set it for each character? Also pretty sure this worked fine in the beta.
