Leverless controller recommendations?
Ok so I have been happy with an Acarde Stick for the past 15 years, but extended play sessions are really starting to get rough on my wrist. I am very interested in trying a Hitbox or other type of Leverless controller, but I don't really want to drop a ton of money on one and only end up not licking it.

Does anyone know if there are any of the economy varieties that are of good enough quality that it won't fail on me and can be a good 'test' run to see if I like them, or am I looking at shelling out $200 for one that isn't likely to fail on me?

Any know of a more moderately priced Leverless they've been happy with?

I can tell you that the brand name hitbox is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ atrocity

There's almost nothing to go wrong with Hitboxes - it's just buttons and provided you like pressing them you're basically there. There's no functional difference between a F1-PC Fightbox with Sanwa Buttons for $100 and something that costs three or four times that amount.

So, I'd probably recommend the Fightbox F1 for $100. If you prefer Crown 202's to OBSF-24's, buy some of those to put in it. I doubt there's going to be any perceptible input lag.

Having recently got the Snack Box Micro, I can recommend it wholeheartedly. It is my first foray into this type of controller and I love how compact it is. I have big hands, but it is still very comfortable. It is super light weight and small so it is easy to carry and easy to play on your lap or on a small table.

I am more worried about buttons breaking when I tap to hard trying to panick DP because I have gotten old and slow in the intervening years! :)

Thank you very much for the suggestions! I will give them a look!

I don't think you need to worry about that sort of stuff. The Sanwa buttons that come with these things usually are tough, and if they break a new one is a couple of bucks, and is incredibly easy to fit (disconnect the cables, no soldering required, pop the broken button out, clip the new button in, reconnect the cables).

edit - these things were built to be in arcade machines used all day by random people with limited respect for other peoples property, after all.
